Drugs in sport (and non sports)

Oh My Days.
I would love it. They must have been held pending an appeal.
Off to the people who must be sitting themselves just when they thought the finish line was in site thread.
This of course will only be of any use if they have access to, and permission for dna matching.
I’d not hold my breath.

Another misfortunate asthmatic.

There have been dark rumors swirling about a medic.

Eamon Sweeney with a fairly cutting (and factual) dig at Ireland’s history of drug cheats

Where?
We are pretty good compared to most

Is Kimmage insinuating something here regarding the walkers?

Feeble enough

I read another article today where someone had a dig at Sky Cycling and David Walsh. I can’t remember where though.

great article that
he is on fire lately on Sundays

No inference in that article that Rob Hefernan is taking drugs, just that one time he wanted to hang all drug cheats and now he just likes to hang out with them.

No smoke without fire, perhaps.

exactly
and for him to get down of his fucking cross that he carries around with him, if he is best buddies with these lads then im not buying the moaning, fair enough id say heffernan is clean, no question but if you are besties with a known cheat and hang out with his doctor in his gaff dont go moaning to the evening echo about how the world is against you

Im a big fan of PK but he continuously makes the point that if these athletes are not coming out strongly against suspected drug cheats then they are as bad, and he also appears to hold them under suspicion. I would have thought that one of the first things these lads would be told by a sports psychologist would be to focus completely on yourself and what you can control? If you spent all your time pissing and moaning about others it would be a huge distraction and demotivator IMO

When you read articles like his one on Sam Lynch and Sinead Jennings last week you’d wonder how good he could be if he could leave the drugs in sport behind for a while.

I enjoyed Sweeney’s article about overage players and ringers, in my final year playing AUL in Cork we put out a Cork senior footballer and two University International players to avoid relegation on the last day. :flushed:

ha ha, iv never come across it in GAA tbh. Loads of times in rugby and soccer alright but all but eliminated now.

My dad and his brothers and work mates were regularly ringers for teams in dublin.

I played in a Kerry u14 hurling semi final a few days after winning a Cork Feile.

It doesn’t happen much now i would say, but was common before. Especially in tournaments which were very popular in the day.

There is huge tit for tat stuff going on between some some spirts scientists and Matthew Syned about the cycling. Ross Tucker is one exposing type writer who showed Froomes times and wattage etc to be highly irregular. He also indicated that Sky have buttered up Walsh with access and exclusives if he goes with their narrative. He has taken the soup basically.

Sky seem dirty as hell. There are links to people being threatened with violenceor their lives on this subject. Including athletes.

yeah but heffernan does come out very strongly against them, always has and that is noble and correct, but then the hypocrisy is that he spends a huge amount of time training with a leading athlete that was banned and a doctor who was implicated… that’s the problem i think
