Dry July

You can let this go now…

The yellow on Gearoid Hegarty in the 26th minute was ridiculous. Ffs it was a hunch.

One night only for me, would have been epic

Hope it’s going well old friend

Dry July done again, thank fuck.
The split season has played havoc with it. I will have to seriously consider partaking in this festival of sobriety in future while the championship reaches its denouement in July.

I was going to go sober in September and October but will have to come off the wagon if/when there is an overnight at the @Faldo golf get together in Galway. I guess one night won’t do any harm, will it?

Dry July done and dusted for another year. What have I learned from it? That I absolutely fucking love red wine.

I honestly think dry months are the hallmark of having a drink problem, no willpower, or both.
They demonstrate a lack of balance.
If one lives life in relative moderation, the odd spontaneous blow out excepted, there is no need for them at all, other than to tell people on Instagram.

This is true. That’s why I drink all year round (in moderation)

Agree totally. Going hard at it in Jan/July proves you don’t have a problem

My thoughts exactly. A distillation of them.

I did dry January a few years ago. Just as a reset. I wouldn’t bother again.

I don’t enjoy drinking as much as I used to. I can still kick the ball hard if I’m around people drinking but I prefer not to.

I read before that people who really like the taste of alcohol be it Guinness or red wine are often the ones whose problem drinking is the hardest to rectify.

I don’t have a drink problem. I just think Dry July is a good thing to do, especially as ‘be seen where the money raised goes and how it helps people living with cancer.

Is it a big thing in Australia?

Yeah, lots of people do it
