The issue with food in pubs is grease getting into the glass washers.
Have been in the Beach Bar. Great spot.

Heading for brunch then pints soon and onto Aviva for college football (I’ll have no clue what’s happening) Fancy a bit of footixing. And decent pubs might show City v Spurs?
I see Willie Aherne of the Palace Bar fame has bought Fitzgerald’s around the corner on Aston Quay.
Was never in there; the scrotes hanging around that general area meant it never appealed as a place to stop into
Its always been a kip. Pubs like that are hard turn around.
Haven’t been in it since it was the Daniel O’Connell. Used to be a grand spot to have a pint with an owl
doll before getting the bus to Kingsbridge and the train home.
It was one of our underage drinking spots when in school when it was the Daniel O’Connell. You’d never go in now
It backs into the palace id say
There’s a good chunk of land between them. I thought same initially
Does he have kids involved ? He surely has his money made. Looks a bit of a risky move to me.
I don’t think so. He’s also involved in that Changing Times brewery. One of the lads in that said they’re flying but they’re pushing the shite out of it on social media so I’d have my doubts.
I’d say the palace has little if any mortgage payments so they’re to looking to reinvest their substantial income (€7.20 for a stout)
No mortgages on pubs - business loan. Could be wrong but max length around 15 years unless things have changed recently
The old Daniel was a great pub for a feed of pints before getting a bus out to kingsbridge
Tipp publicans in Dublin sticking their chests out and getting ready for a busy decade of All Ireland’s ahead.
This behind the Palace?
It looks nice but there’s extreme bad juju about those 50 square metres or so on the corner of Westmoreland Street and Aston Quay. It’s hard to put into words just how bad the juju is. There’s a defined zone of bad juju and you could draw a line on the pavement where is inside it and where is outside it. It’s like there’s a giant invisible bag of heroin (does heroin come in bags?) on that corner which attracts every scrote and junkie in Dublin like flies to shit.
Yes.
Yes.
With the sheer level of chest expansion that made it hard to move in Chaplins/Ryans/Palace/Lower Deck/Hogan Stand etc on All Ireland weekend, its probably a wise decision for the Tipp publicans in the capital to grow their footprint with an eye on the years ahead.
I reckon that block will now fall under a new Garda policing zone, there will be tinfoil detectors on the corner and none shall pass, if they can divert the rats they might have a chance to flourish, but ask yourself.
Would you go there or to the Palace? I know my answer every time.
