Dublin Riots 2018

It really is.

He’s trying very hard indeed.

I think there was a fairly visceral reaction because the way Irish society had responded to once in a generation weather was hugely positive. Doctors and nurses walking long distances through the snow into work. Council workers putting in huge shifts keeping roads open, the various levels of government largely making the right calls and making them clearly, bosses closing workplaces responsibly, neighbours sorting out neighbours etc etc etc

In many ways it was Ireland at its best

Therefore, the videos and news of the various incidents impacted far more deeply than it might otherwise have done.

That and the fact that everyone was sitting at home pissed and bored and the late Late was a car crash!

That’s a lovely post

People walking to work. Fancy that.

I shall edit it post-haste to satisfy your sassenach pedantry

No don’t. It’s actually a fine example of one of snowflake Irelands major problems. It neatly encapsulates
A. People feel that actually walking to work is some kind of noble sacrifice.
B. Not content with the inner glow such heroism engenders, they feel the need to broadcast this on social media.
C. The Irish psyche is so fucked up and needy in some ways that this plays nicely to the “best boy in the class great bunch of lads” absolute need for constant appreciation and approval, and this frotting self portrait is promoted across all public media streams (look what just went viral!)

It’s image crafting mate. That’s the way it’s gone now in Oireland

I note there has been no actual engagement with the substance of what I posted a while back. Funny, that.

Far easier to have a confused moan about “snowflakes” and pick up a few cheap likes from the usual dimwits. That’s actual snowflake behaviour.

Most didnt post on social media but sure look if you want to define it as such then away with you.

Maybe instead you could continue posting about fancy cars, big cycles, encounters with Brit sporting celebs etc etc because that wouldn’t be an “absolute need for constant appreciation and approval” at all at All

I often disagree with your opinions but I enjoyed this sentence.

Lovely right uppercut

Flatty’s e-body is being buried out on the moors as I type.

Sure you could say that about any post put up here revealing personal information, ie that it seeks validation, im dismayed at this ott attack on flatty

Bit rich coming from a guy who motorbikes into work in the snow

I don’t think the problem is that somebody seeks e-validation, pal. I’m really not sure why anybody would care about that. The point is that it’s rather hypocritical for a poster who regularly looks for e-validation to complain about others he feels are doing so - often mistakenly.

Basically @flattythehurdler’s real problem appears to be with the use of technology and social media by others (although he thinks it’s just fine if he uses it in similar fashion). He’d want to come to terms with all this pretty quickly as technology and social media aren’t going away and this sort of thing could eat a man up inside if he allows it to.

Athlone got hit too
