I think we really really miss Damian Hayes. I canāt understand how brehony is not starting. Lally should have been given every league, Walsh cup, and friendly game at centre back, and left there. He seems to have a fine big match temperament.
Glennon I find frustrating. Seems to have everything, but hasnāt really pulled up any trees in the corner. Iād have liked to see him as third midfielder, if that is how we intend lining up. Iād look for pace nearly above all else in the forward line if canning is at full forward. My major beef with AC has been his apparent lack of interest in junior and intermediate hurling.
There has to be someone else out there.
Well trueā¦ Fragile would be our middle name.
I listened to an interview with Conal Keaney yesterday and when asked about the difference in management between Daly and Ger Cunningham he spent the next 2 minutes telling Brian Carthy how much he enjoyed working under Daly and how he loved his style and that he found Cunninghamās approach completely different as he was such a quiet fellow. I just got the inkling that the camp might not be as enthused with things under Cunninghamās.
Iām take any straw I can grab at
There is no pace in our 15 around the middle thirdā¦ Harte maybe. AC is well known for making late change so who knows. Joe Cooney is obviously impressing in training but Iām not sure what he brings to a midfield role.
Ties in with what I know of him with Cork. Very good coach, great drills but not sure he is a leader. Dublinās hurling will be sharp under him. He wonāt be that tactical. Dublin wonāt be as physical or as fit as they were under Daly but their hurling will be better.
Will be interesting to see how the Kerry lad goes for Dublin.
Flynn is the real deal imo, one of the few reasons to pin whatever little hope we have of doing anything this year. Hard to expect much from Donnellan on his return to this level having been out so long

Brehony flattered to deceive a fair bit last year. AC must be getting sick of some of these lads wild fluctuations in form.
@Kinvaraās Passion, is that the same full back that was cruelly exposed against Tipperary last year?
I wrote Galway off pre championship in 2014 largely on the back of their big, immobile forward unit. Very samey. Complete lack of pace. Thereās better balance to the attack now with Flynn having emerged and Brehony released to wing forward. Iām more unsure about their defence this year but itās a very open championship etc etc.
To be fair the ācruel exposureā was mostly as a result of us falling apart at midfield once Smith went off with 20 minutes to go and McGrath went out there.
The crossbred son of Lohan and JJ Delaney would have been destroyed in that situation. Burke got no cover and no help and unfairly carried the can for the failings of others further out.
I canāt see that we have learned any lessons at all though in terms of selection. Cooney, Smith and Tannian will all need replacing before the match ends due to running out of legs leaving two changes to cover form and injury. Thatās not enough. Plus the benefit of experience could be huge towards the end of a game, our bench is not exactly full of it. Cooney is a player we know can impact off the bench for example. Now we are in the same situation as v Tipp last year where when they got a run on us we bled to death and the substitutions made no impact.
My feeling is that when we go out this year it will be off the back of a hiding unless we make major alterations for the qualifiers. The road we appear to be going down with the selection doesnāt have any light at the end of it from what I can see.
Normally coming close to game time youād always have a surge of optimism, even false optimism, not for me this w/e though.
Over 6 games in the league we scored 4 goals and 111 points. An average of 17 points per game.
Our last meeting with Dublin in the league was a game where Dublin had to win to prevent relegation and win they did handsomely. 0-26 to 2-14. Hard to know how motivated Galway were that dayā¦but impressive point scoring nonetheless from the Duds.
So unless we bag 3 goals weāll struggle to win this as has been suggested already.
Flynn has always seemed a bit of a soft baller to me, maybe heās just finding his feet at this level, well I hope so. I like the cut of mannions gib, shows well for it and is accurate I think. I expect us to be destroyed in the air, as always. I canāt believe ferghal Moore still isnāt worth his place.

Well weāre consistent if nothing else
Well Collins wanted consistency. He got it today. But then we deliver it most days, hence the word. 20 points is our limit, conceding more than that means we lose. Itās that simple.
Galway being called āinconsistentā amuses me, we are many things, inconsistent is not one of them.
Thought today was a funny type of game. The neutrals will probably claim with some justification it was better quality and more entertaining. However I think it lacked the intensity and rawness of last Sunday
I thought it a grand game. Delighted with the fight, spirit and effort from Galway. The forward line are at last starting to look threatening in general. Carried JC which hopefully we wont have to do as his hand improves. Iām well encouraged by that. Hanbury decent at full back as well. Andy Smith had a great game.
Will any of the three Burkes start for galway next day out?
It is a great weekand of hurling
Daithi and david might. Daithi will be first sub on if he doesnāt . Niall is out i think.
The three were reported fit.
Well then my previous post wasnt too informative!
I figured you knew more. Iām hoping galway get their act together, I donāt know how they squandered the strides made in 2012. I still think they have the players.
The hurlers arent exceptional, but theyre as good as anyone outside of tipp/kk. No gamplan though, just blasting the ball in. Might get away with it tomorrow as dublins short passing build up might be stifled there, but weād be picked apart in croker by a better team. And our only response since 2012 has been the long ball. Worked in the draw to kk last year a for a short while against tipp, but its low percentage. Need a big game from johnny glynn tomorrow heās gone quiet.
