Jesus that was some game thought we were goners there. we were shit at the back but the Kerry passing was something else.
I’m sure Mayo won’t have their hype machine in top gear.
A pleasure to witness that in the flesh. Outstanding game of football.
Anyone here at the game today??
Not me anyway, bud.
I went in. Not a patch on hurling or real football that starts on Thursday. Mildly entertaining however.
Smashing game that.
Connolly was superb for Dublin and Gooch was brilliant for Kerry. Lots of incidents and talking points:
Thought the penalty was an awful decision, he charged with the ball.
J Cooper was lucky not to be sent off that time but I do think he was just emerging from that scramble and was trying to play the ball. Still fortunate though.
Connolly showed serious leadership and ability.
Rock was very effective too when he came on.
Did McMenamon mishit the shot for his goal? Looked a strange shot and was very surprised he took that on with his left foot with men over. He was lucky to get the ball in the first place actually, he had his back turned to some of the contest for possession just behind him and didn’t realise the ball was about to be broken to him.
Surprising how quiet Flynn was today. Even with him and Kilkenny a bit off form that was a serious score from Dublin
Just watched that, recorded it while I went to a club game. Fucking brilliant! Pity Kerry ran out of legs a bit. Dub player should have been sent off on a second yellow for that trip on cooper. Brogan was class. Connolly was class. O’Donoghue was class. Colm cooper was fucking brilliant.
Kerry really showed up the idiots that predicted a tanking.
Just on the way back from the game now. Fucking savage game. Atmosphere was superb on the hill/nally. Suitably one-eyed and toxic. Can’t wait to watch it later. You’d fear mayo big time but what a day.
A word also for @Ebeneezer Goode @Bandage and @thedancingbaby who all made the fame that much more enjoyable in the salubrious surroundings of our suite.
Best game of football I was ever at. And I’ve been to hundreds of Wexford games over the years. Diarmuid Connolly was immense and clear MOTM. Brilliant by Dublin to overcome the blow of losing Ger Brennan at half time - Colm Cooper couldn’t get near him in the first half. What a bizarre way for McManamon to save the day again. It seemed to me he botched a 3 on 2 by going himself and floating a tame point attempt with his weaker foot straight at the keeper, who waved it into the net. Maybe I have that all wrong?
Thats how it appeared to me on initial live viewing, a complete mishit. Dublin still greedy and butchering chances imho, Connolly while having a great game done so too midway through the second half.
Yeah had forgotten that Connolly one. MacAuley was also very greedy early on.
Is McAuley greedy or just completely unable to look up when he’s trying to solo or hop a ball? His grasp of the skills of GAA is laughable at times so I would put his lack of vision down to that more so than greed. Connolly has no such excuse. Some balls to kick that free.
It was never obvious to me what successive Dublin managers saw in Ger Brennan. Nice lad though, one of two Belvedere old boys on the Dublin team today.
Is that an eye gouge?
Even though I wanted Dublin to win before the start, I was disappointed when McMenimen’s goal went in purely because I wanted another game.
What is it about McManamon that so many people spell his name incorrectly? It’s like Trapattoni all over again. I’m absolutely seething about this.
