I know it was 9 v 10 for the entire second half but not entirely displeased to take a replay because anything was liable to happen with the referee. That said, we should have won with the missed penalty, Guidetti missing a couple of chances and us messing up a few very promising situations. Hopefully Van Dijk will have his red card overturned for the final next Sunday. There’ll be some serious bad blood between the teams by the end of this now 4-game saga if today was anything to go by.
I’d say there’s no chance of having Van Dijk’s red card overturned. Only hope is that they’ll have to rescind Paton’s and maybe won’t be able to decide whether Ciftci or Butcher gets one instead so they cancel them both.
There’s a real lack of confidence and composure about some of our forwards. The pitch was clearly a problem but it wasn’t generally that we missed great chances but that we miscontrolled the ball around the box and allowed them to intervene. Johansen for example had a few off touches but generally was perfectly fine on the bumpy pitch. Stokes and Guidetti couldn’t seem to react to any bobbles at all.
Pity that neither Hampden nor Celtic Park are in great condition at the moment either because it will be a slog against them in those conditions every week.

Johansen suspended for the replay and Van Dijk too unless his red card is rescinded.
