Dundee United v Celtic ☘

Solid away draw, clean sheet too.

You clearly don’t understand what “objectively” means.

I do.

Maybe you don’t however.

Can you answer me what credentials Kennedy had for the job?

This is pointless.

He got a scouting job. He trained for and got his coaching badges. He’s been a professional coach for 10 years graduating from youth teams to reserves to first team.

He could of course still be shite but he’s clearly qualified and just like Celtic should be developing players they should be developing coaches too.

In fairness, given the apparent ineptitude at most anything that needs a level of organisation this season, such as defending at a set piece, any set piece, you’d have to query his ability as a coach also.

That’s more a managerial tactical thing. Shane Duffy doesn’t need to be taught how to defend a set piece. A working system needs to be put in place. Unfortunately our best defender (Ajer) is completely inept in the air which doesn’t help.

Anyway it’s a catastrophe. Kennedy shouldn’t be anywhere near the job. But I don’t think Edouard is as bad as this season. Or McGregor. Or even Duffy. And I don’t think Kennedy can he judged solely on one season either.

It’s not pointless.

It’s odd that you can’t clarify what credentials he had. I know he’s graduated but I’m wondering what his credentials he has had. To me he doesn’t seem to have any yet he just rises through the ranks without any achievements. I think the answer is obvious but it goes against your narrative.

What can he be judged on? What has he done or achieved?

First team coach for x number of title winning seasons including four consecutive trebles and an unbeaten season. You know all this. Not everything is as binary as everyone is shit all of a sudden and nothing they did before mattered.

I think you’re right about the players, maybe about Kennedy, but this season has been such an unmitigated mess that I think a completely new broom is needed.
Celtic are a global brand, with a reach rangers can only dream of. That rangers are, only a few years after bankruptcy and reformation, so clearly better staffed and run is an indictment.

I’m all for a new broom. I don’t subscribe to the notion that Kennedy has been given a job as a favour. He’s worked hard, done his coaching licenses etc to get where he is. None of that means he’s good enough but he evidently has an element of talent that Rodgers for example recognised.

We’re looking at a new manager and a director of football and some other changes. I’d like to see Strachan replaced too. And maybe Kennedy but he’s about fourth or fifth in the list of staff replacements which is a lot to do in one summer. Especially when half the playing squad needs changing too.

I wouldn’t regard that as much in his credentials. He has pretty much been foisted upon every manager that came into the job. It’s the culture at Celtic, unqualified people pushed through the ranks. It wasn’t as any manager identified his abilities, he was appointed from above.

I don’t think he has either, and I absolutely think it’s correct to look after your own, but I remain surprised at the lack of any apparent succession planning.
Whatever the reason(s) we are worse than the sum of our parts, though I don’t think our parts are that great either. As things stand, it’s back to the nineties, where winning an old firm game is a pleasant surprise.

Why were his appointments/promotions made at executive level rather than that by managers. The fact is he has been foisted upon first team duties, not by Deila, Rodgers or Lennon but by Lawwell.

Because that’s how every successful club works. It’s far too disruptive if a new manager comes in and tries to replace 15 people and leaves after 2 years and the cycle runs again.

Lawwell was acting as a proxy director of football. He’s evidently not qualified for that but the idea that someone can be promoted within the coaching structure isn’t a weird concept. It’s fundamental to how any progressive club should be run.

No it’s not.

Kennedy’s rise has been unabated with little pedigree.

Did Celtic interview any other candidates for first team coach or assistant manager or did Lawwell promote decide to put Kennedy into it?

First team coaching and assistant manager roles are vital so I’d have big concerns over how Kennedy managed to get himself into this picture and how little of a say a manager has over choosing these.

What’s your take on Lawell? Is he a frugal cunt or is he lining his own pockets as per Fulvios accusations ? I said it before that Celtic should have bought big before rangers could get any oxygen in the Scottish top flight and keep them down forever …but they refused to turn it into an arms race even though they had bigger pot and now rangers are champs🤦‍♂️

He was frugal, lacked ambitition and got too involved in the football side of things

Celtic and lennon parted by mutual consent before Rodgers came in, somehow 3 years later, a man they wanted to leave the club was manager again

Ok but he was honourable, just went into areas he didn’t have expertise for ?

Well you couldd say the bottom line meant more than success

I guess some could argue he prioritised his bonus
