Dundee vs Celtic, League Cup Tonight

For some inexplicable reason the setanta site is blocked in my workplace. Can somebody please check for me if any of their channels are showing this game live tonight? I have access to Frazer’s site and they’re showing it but I don’t really want to head into town to watch it in that dump.

its on BBC Scotland Bandage…not sure about setanta

Cheers dancingbaby, I can watch it in the comfortable surrounds of my local then.

Just looking at the reserve side yesterday on the other thread to try get some idea of the likely team:
Brown,
Caddis, Cuthbert, O’Dea, Conroy,
O’Brien, Jarosik, Grant, Bjarnason,
Killen, McGowan,

It’s highly unlikely any of these lads will start twice in two days so as regards changes from the side that played at Hibs then you’re looking more at Balde, Riordan, Sno and Zurawski. I’d definitely rest McManus and Brown as they had two tough games with Scotland in the last couple of weeks too.

It’s probably going to be something like:
Boruc,
Doumb, Balde, Caldwell, Wilson/Naylor,
Brown/McGeady, Sno, Hartley, Riordan,
Zurawski, McDonald/Jan,

Wilson is very likely to be out for the Milan game next week so no way he will start tonight.

Good to get a win tonight although Baby informs me it was a poor performance. Thanks for the updates by the way Baby. Pity nobody else bothered to inform me.

Awful performance but I read the BBC website and Strachan thought it was a cracker.

you’re welcome.

i thought Celtic were very poor. I fear for us next Wednesday to be honest. Milan got beat 2-1 by Palermo last night after leading 1-0 at half time by the way

Dundee vs Celtic should not be a cracker - it should be a stroll in the park.

there were calls for Strachan’s head on a down market forum that is part of a betting exchange website.

Ah no way should Strachan go. I’m a firm supporter of the job he’s doing and you have to remember this is the best start to a season we’ve made under him and we’re still on course to win all 4 trophies this season. We’ve had a little dip in form since the international break (I fooking hate international breaks by the way and the first champions league round should not be the Wednesday straight after players are back from a double header with their countries). A solid performance on Saturday at home to Dundee United and then we’ll look in better shape for Wednesday.

Last night’s ratings:

Boruc - 7.627: One particularly outstanding save from a point blank header and a couple of other good ones from freekicks. They peppered him with crosses and balls launched into the box and though he could have done better with his punch for the goal he did excellently overall. Reminds me a lot of myself with his charisma and ability to defy the critics.

Caldwell - 6.346: One of his better displays at right back. Didn’t stand out really which is good when he plays there.

Kennedy - 6.291: Looked a bit rusty after being out of the side for a month. Gave away a lot of fouls on the edge of the box and never dominated in the air.

McManus - 6.385: Not a dominant display either. For a side who had 3 centre halves on the park Celtic didn’t look commanding under the high ball and once they saw that they kept knocking high balls in. I would have rested the skipper last night myself.

Naylor - 6.571: One of his better displays this season. Got in some good blocks and tackles and his passing was much better. That said he did fire a couple of trademark crosses over the bar and into the stand.

Brown - 6.375: Was good in parts but quiet at other times. Tried to inject pace into attacks and was constantly making runs forward off the ball and carrying the ball himself. With them playing 5 in midfield on a tight pitch there wasn’t too much space for him to really destroy them.

Donati - 6.326: Passed it nicely at times and showed some good skills to create space and switch the play in a congested midfield. Again, drifted in and out of things though.

Sno - 6.458: The 90 minutes will do him the world of good as he’s looked off the pace so far this season. Toiled away in the midfield and didn’t overly impress but was still making challenges and getting forward right to the end. Forced a good save from their keeper in the last minute.

Riordan - 6.390: Had a good effort saved early on and then won and missed a penalty in the second after having a heated debate with Jan as to who should take it. I still don’t think he adds much to the side playing on the left as he’s not particularly quick, doesn’t pass it amazingly and always cuts back infield.

McDonald* - 7.678: He was excellent. Scored one with a neat header and set up the second for Jan. Worked his balls off again and was involved in everything positive we did. I take the point made on another thread about his shooting but so far I’m pleased with his performances and he’ll only get better as he gets more integrated into the side.

Vennegoor of Hesselink - 6.436: Was quite poor throughout but finished the cut back from McDonald for his goal well.

Poor enough game and our performance was typical of late in that it had both positives and negatives but negatives outweiged the positives. Disappointed O’Dea didn’t featureG and he should be ahead of Kennedy in the pecking order at this stage imo. Gllad we beat an Alex Rae side theough. Doesn’t strike me as a nice man.

Don’t think there was any harm in giving O’Dea 90 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday instead. He’s way behind on match fitness at the moment so it was more important to get him a game at any level.

Why’s that rock cause of lack of reserve games? Never realised that so fair call as he is lacking fitness. Would it not be same for Kennedy? Get the impression that Strachan doesn’t like him though. If our fullback problems continue Caldwell might have to move to full back with the other centre half position up for grabs. Is Bobo still injured or just unwanted?

Strachan said in the Scottish press on Tuesday that the form of Balde and Killen in training were giving him tough selection decisions. But then Bobo didn’t feature in either the reserve game or the game last night so I’m not sure what’s going on. Perhaps he got a slight knock in training?

No idea about Balde.

Re the reserves Larry there were two reserve games postponed in a row I think and then with international breaks etc. we only played one game in September I think.
