Anybody who has spent time in Limerick will testify that there are some high quality traditional chip shops.
Enzo’s, O’Connell Grill, Golden Grill,
then on another level you have Luigi’s
but then above all them, the king of chippers:
Donkey Fords.
Your missing out big time. You can order the entire menu and it won’t cost you more than 20.
Fuscos in Garryowen at the back of the dog track is also a serious chipper. I hate when they don’t shake the bag as their firing on the salt & vinegar. You end up with the top half of the bag dosed in it and bottom half with fuck all on it.
Freda’s
Donkey Fords
PJ’s Plaice
O Connell Grill
Golden Grill
Luigi’s
Fusco’s
Enzo’s
Rio’s
NYC Pizza (formerly the lobster pot)
to name but a few…Almost impossible to get a bad bag of chips if you know what you are at

I fooking hate salt and vinegar. cant stand the shit, and the stink of vinegar.
and here Puke, how much research did you do to find out that Limerick has the best chippers? Is it just that its the only place you know a lot of chippers so that obviously makes it the best? Like some of those idiots who say Ireland is the best country to live in, sure why would you go anywhere else, and the fools have never set foot outside the country.

GMAN, I’ve lived or spent decent time in a fair few places around around Ireland and I can honestly say Limerick does have a very high proportion of quality chippers. Not being smart but I think where you find alot of working class areas, you also tend to find top quality chippers.
is chipper food not fairly standard & bland throughout the country - dont they just dice up spuds & fuck them in oil- how much variety can there be?
on a side note, why do many italians run chippers over here? they have none of them in italy so why so many here? is it because when they came here they saw a demand for fast food & while pasta & pizza can be made quickly we wernt into them when they opened fist?

Ah there is a bit of a difference NCC. Dont know why the Italians run chippers, My friends father owns it, I’ll ask him sometime and get back to ya.
