i think waht turned the case was the fact that the car he crashed into was parked on a bend so drunk or not he wouldnt have avoided it. but whos to know
Should I be reading between the âlinesâ there?
I believe the car was parked in the hard shoulder with the hazard lights on. Due to loose livestock ahead. But shur I suppose they should have expected a scuttered, washed-up Munster player to be driving from Limerick to Dublin on the hard shoulder. The prick went ballistic at the scene aswell. Donât you know who I am?
You have it on the nose.
THe whole case stunk from start to finish. The rugby old boys circle is still alive and well.
Its disgusting. I know one Munster player who is from a legal backround who isnât too happy about it, so i wouldnât be throwing all these guys inwith this one.
I know ya, but that is the perception it gives out.
Scandalous, but canât say I am surprised unfortunately.
Halvey is an utter scumbag and should have been off the road long agoâŚCould have been a decent player but as MBB pointed out he enjoyed the party scene way too much⌠Cunt.

Eddie Halvey recieved a 7 month suspended sentence for drunk driving and causing the death of a 16 year old boy
In February of this year a Latvian man was sentenced to 7 years in jail for drunk driving and causing the death of a Cork woman.
In November last year a Dublin man was jailed for 8 years for drunk driving and causing the deaths of two French women.
Last July a Carlow man was jailed for four months for driving while drunk and not having insurance.
In June a Dublin woman was described as menace and jailed for 6 years for drunk driving and injuring a pedestrian.
In April a Bray man was jailed for 6 months for drunk driving and driving without insurance.
Also in April an Enniscorthy man was jailed for 8 months for drunk driving.
Thats pretty fucking damning. Shame on all who had something to do with this, shame.
the lack of common decency currently running through this country is summed up in this story.
is there anyone left in this fucking country willing to stand up and take their medicine for what they have done anymore?
Sickening case this, says a lot about him that he pleaded not guilty to the dangerous driving causing death charge. Should be up on a manslaughter charge for this type of stuff.
Few links here to other drink driving cases not mentioned and what happened.

Didnât have to plead not guilty to the charge of dangerous driving causing death as the DPP didnât bring that charge. Report in todayâs indo says that the DPP considered dropping all charges against Halvey. Reading between the lines suggest that it was only pressure from the family that forced the DPP to bring any charges.
Very hypocritical of Halvey to apologise in court yesterday, as the victims mother said, he had three years to do it, why wait until he was in court where he was sure the media would hear it.
Sickening.
I donât know what to make of this
At first I thought that there was no benefit to be gotten by putting Halvey away, the more I think about it now though I think he should have been sent down. He drank and decided to drive- not a little over the limit but twice the limit- and then killed a young fellow.
The only thing certain is that there are two sets of lives ruined here
Two sets of lives ruined here alright, but Halvey ruined his own life, the kid didnât have a choice.
There was absolutely no account taken for this killing. He was charged with careless driving and drunk driving. If heâd struck an Oak tree it would be the same charges, only if he did that the guards would have covered it up for him like they did before. Shame on all who took part in this whitewash. Fuck you Mick Galway.
For what itâs worth I would also like to add my utter disgust at this verdict.
Likewise.
He must be some cunt. Twice the limit and sets off for Dublin at 5am. in the morning. Is he mental or what?
Aye he was on his way to the Munster v Leinster semi final game as far as I remember. Course he couldnât go up and have a few pints in Dublin and stay above, no he had to get hammered the friday night before and decide it was a good idea to drive the 130 miles to Dublin. Fucking prick.
