Eddie Rocketts or Abrakebra

I’m quite annoyed by this. Quite annoyed indeed.

@Big_Dan_Campbell

Brace yourself pal.

They’ve been rolling out new Eddie Rockets with a fancier look and a slimmer menu.
Anyway I tried the one in Baggot street last night. Walked in and asked for a special burger and she said what’s that :anguished: Doesn’t exist anymore!!! Not sure if they plan on rolling this out nationwide or what but all the Rockets around D2 are changed from what I’ve seen.

On the plus side the food was savage*. The burger was two thin burgers rather than the one fat one. Chips were crinkle cut!!!

*I had a few on board

Eddie Rockets have gone into partnership with Topaz and there will be Eddie Rockets built in petrol stations around the country.

@ChocolateMice will be delighted that when he pops down the petrol station for a box of fine wine he can also get an Eddie Rockets

Any of the IFSC based excel jockeys tried the ‘Rockets’ on North Wall Quay? Any significant difference between it and a standard Eddie Rockets?

See my post Brian

The free refills on soft drinks should appeal to you. I tried the Jervis premises last week. Fine option.

A few of my colleagues were seething about the following changes at the Baggot Street outlet:

  • crinkle cut chips;
  • having to order at the counter rather than the old waitress system;
  • streamlined menu and lack of old favourites like Hawaiian Burger.

I can understand disappointment for anyone who has endured a transition from the old diner to the new light touch experience. I hope that’s not a pattern to be repeated elsewhere. But as a standalone addition to the fast food scene, I welcome the arrival of Rockets.

Whatever happened to 5 Guys Burger or whatever it’s called. They got a bit of media coverage a year ago but no sign of them (unless I’m missing something).

They’re struggling to find a location last I heard.

In n Out trialled some there recently. Not supposed to be great.

The old Lebowski burger, I can’t wait.

There’s a lovely bit of green space at the end of a cul de sac in Carrickmines that would be ideal.

As long as none of the Five Guys are called McDonagh, Ward or Joyce, that could indeed be suitable.

Brian, though not an excel jockey, I do treat myself to a chilli burger here after every venesection, to cheer myself up. I like the burgers.

I used to be a regular in these establishments but in the last 6-7 years can only recount two times i’ve ventured in there. One was in Dublin when there was a group of us about three years ago and the other time was a few months ago when i was on my own in the crescent in Limerick and was starved with the hunger, ravenous almost. I got some kind of club sandwich with chips and it was very bog standard.

Eddie Rockets were unlucky to lose my custom when i stopped eating burgers out after the horse meat fiasco of a few years ago. Up until that point i was regular enough in there.

@Fagan_ODowd where is the best burger in Fingal?

Or would i be as well off just head to the city centre for such peasant food

Had one not long after they changed to Rockin Joe’s, it was average enough and certainly not worth the premium.
I’d imagine coqbull although more expensive will blow them out of the water when they open in town.

I was very disappointed to see that the Rockin’ Joe’s on Paul O’Connell street in Limerick was closed shortly after 1am on Saturday morning

A fine question there, best burger in Dublin?

I visited The Counter in Dundrum not long back and I have to say its top of my list at present. I’ve only been to Bunsen the once, but didn’t get the hype (I was quite drunk mind). Jo’burger does a fine burger to its credit and Bobo’s is always a solid option.

Never heard of this crowd but googled them there and they look fairly slick. They’re killing it in Cork are they? Some type of chicken house?

There’s a brew brothers in Castretroy that’s decent if you’re into burgers and that kind of thing.

You’re probably best heading to Swords for proletarian stuff like that. Might be wrong but I don’t think the Riviera would cater to these tastes.
