ENGLAND Supporters Thread - World Cup 2018, Russia Here We Come

I haven’t seen Colombia play but I believe they have an incredible team. We’ll really be up against it.

If they are missing James England have a right chance… I’d worry about James, Falcoa and Cuadrado attacking Maguire, Stones and the Walker

We’re like the Limerick hurlers now in bonus territory. I believe we have the youngest squad in the tournament and we weren’t supposed to get out of a group with the highest ranked African team, Tunisia.

And Harry is wan of our own.

I hope Eeeeengerluuuund win the soccerball cup just to piss off the premiershite supporters here.

Letting yourself down badly here. Southall was as agile a keeper as you would see and kept out more top corner bound shots than most of the lads you mentioned put together. Won a European Cup Winners cup medal as well so not sure where you’re getting the idea he didn’t play any European tournament football.

A Limerick man lifting the cup would be epic.

Colombia can be sublime on their day, as they were against Poland, but they have a history of blowing hot and cold, and didn’t look particularly comfortable today against a strong, physical Senegal team.

But like England, they are adept at set pieces and we’ve seen England give away a goal from a set piece at this tournament against Colombia’s neighbours Panama.

I think they’ll need Rodriguez to win.

One thing they don’t have is historical pedigree. With South American and Latin American teams in general, that matters. It translates into belief. It’s why Uruguay are always dangerous and why Chile and Mexico never advance past the last 16. It was why Peru never looked like scoring in their first two games at this tournament despite being comfortably the better team against Denmark and very competitive against France.

I’m not sure if Colombia will genuinely have the belief that they can beat England. In the 1998 clash in Lens, Colombia folded like a bedsheet. At the last World Cup, they were very impressive in reaching the quarter-finals but never looked like they had the belief to beat Brazil.

If they do advance, they could reach the final.

But I’d give a hesitant vote to England to advance.

It’ll be called the Harry Kane all Ireland when limerick face Galway in August

Was Rashford playing tonight?

2 clean sheets against Poland and Senegal is no mean feat. Neither team really looked like scoring at any stage in those 2 games and both were fighting to stay in the tournament. Not bad when you can bring on a €20m Sevilla player for Rodriguez who actually did quiet well. I think they have enough about them to dominate possession and beat England. They have a few genuine top level players now and you just know Falcao will only need one chance against them.

Great to have you on board mate. Come on England.

It’s England mate, it’s not like they’re playing a Brazil or Germany or Italy.

England are a nation who have only ever played in one major international final that they needed dodgy officiating on home soil to capture.

Colombia have only ever won one knock out game at the World Cup - against a Uruguay side that had already checked out after Luis Suarez was suspended.

I was on about England mate. Despite Colombia’s lack of pedigree, they are not taking on a giant of the game.

I’m Argentinian, mate… but after that England have my full backing.

Jesus poor oul @Gman shot for the stars here and missed spectacularly. Obviously his weird obsession with Liverpool made him have a pop at Southall, a stone cold legend.
