There’s a lovely bit in the book Kings Of September (note: September, not July) in which 10 year old Sean Grennan recounts how his mother made the decision to leave the 1982 All-Ireland football final when Offaly had gone four points down, with young Sean in tow. They went to a relative’s house in Balbriggan for a commiseration gathering, only to be informed on arrival in Balbriggan that they had missed some things happening.
