Barkley was getting selected for a long time when he was in bad form by Southgate but I dunno will he bring him back.
Mainoo Is up against the Yorkshire pudding and Jordan Henderson for a starting place I’d say.
Thing about Mainoo he’s absolutely excellent at dribbling from deep and carrying the ball out of defence. Looks ideally suited to Southgate’s style if they are going to sit deep and try and counter teams.
Am i wrong? I saw 25 minutes and Barkley destroyed the man utd midfield.

Southgate knows a player when he sees one
Southgate has decided to ‘promote’ Man City defender Kian Noble to the senior squad after he was named in Greg Noble’s U17 squad for their U17 Euro qualifiers againat Northern Ireland, Hungary and France.
Southgate is really handicapping that team with his defensive selections. T-Rex arms and Dunk brutal for the two goals conceded. That midfield looks really good though, it’s very un-English
