Burnley promoted
Josh Cullen going up to the Prem.
Caught the end of a cracking 4-4 draw between Sunderland and Hull earlier. Sunderland conceding from a penalty deep into the 5 additional minutes.
Goaltastic few minutes at the Riverside
Good comeback for the Hatters v Boro although penalty was soft. You’d hope experience of play offs last year will stand them in good stead in the next few weeks.
Despite McGoldrick’s best efforts, Derby miss out on the play-offs on the final day.
Lost 1-0 to Wednesday; sloppy backpass from Curtis Davies (he must be almost 40 now) saw him forced to give away a penalty and get sent off. That put them 1-0 down and McGoldrick was denied a couple of times.
Peterborough beat 4th-place Barnsley 2-0 to overtake Derby in the final play-off position (another goal for Jonson Clarke-Harris, serious goalscorer at that level). They’ll now play Wednesday and Barnsley will play Bolton.
From an Irish pov, we would have liked Derby to go up, I think, they have a lot of Irish players. I think Knight is going to have to get a move out of there now.
On a slightly more positive note, Finn Azaz scored the goal to secure the title for Plymouth. Hopefully he gets a good Championship loan next season.
Millwall and Blackburn fighting out a classic for the honour of getting thumped by Luton in the playoffs
Brereton Diaz makes it 4-3 to Blackburn.
I don’t think either team makes 6th? Sunderland will be playing Luton
Serious slice of luck for Sunderland - we’ll smash em
A final day bottle job costs Millwall. Sunderland sneak into 6th spot. A brilliant late dash by them.
Some day for Sunderland. Absolutely ripped Preston to shreds in the second half.
Play some beautiful football- Clarke, Roberts, Diallo, Pritchard, Neil; serious quality there. If they had a striker, they’d walk it. Lack of defenders might hurt against Luton too, who are a big strong team.
Millwall fans will wreck Lancashire tonight. What a collapse
Looking forward to welcoming you and the Hatters to the EPL Footix thread(s) next season
Was in the Den luckily.
Touch of class that
Be ironic if Mowbray takes Sunderland up, given that he was deemed surplus to requirements at Blackburn.
And Alex Neil left Sunderland to go to stoke. Stoke finished 16th on 53 points.
Notts County are BACK in the football league. Won the shootout 4-3 after drawing 2-2. They were 0-1 down for much of the 90.
The grass isn’t always greener. Mowbray has done very well considering.
A very small team with no natural centre-backs or strikers, very vulnerable to set-pieces as a result. Conceded the first to a massive Luton side in that manner yesterday. Luton are big, strong, athletic, very direct; put a lot of balls in the box but seemed to tire by half-time and Sunderland had the better of the second half.
Coventry vs Boro has been very dull. Very little shots.
