Eoin Kelly Tipp

I was hold that for later

A video came up on bookface last week of Limerick v Tipp in Munster minor championship in 2000, held in Bruff strangely enough.

Finished a draw, 4-13 to 2-19. Of Tippā€™s 4-13 he scored something like 2-10 or 2-11. Iā€™ve only watched the first half, even then at that young age you could tell he was different gravy.

He was exceptionally strong, once it was in his hand it was more than likely going to be a score.

I have a vague recollection of Eoin Kelly scoring 13 points a couple of days in a row against Limerick in 06 or 07

He scored something like 5-11 out of 5-12 in a South Tipp minor final , they still didnā€™t win.
He was unreal underage for his club, an absolute star (as was Paul by the way).

Take your education here like a good ladeen & move on.

Eoin Kelly was a genius.
2.11 here that day.

Wasnā€™t a bad penalty from Kelly @ 57:00

Niall Moran out midfield had a great game too & a young 16 year old O Shaugnessy in the corner.

The day Babs made the Tipp lads walk from the cathedral to semple and play limerick Kelly was unreal. Limerick were big favorites the same day. Think it was 2006

He scored 14 points that day. 9 from play.

Limerick helped by keeping Damien Reale away from him

He scored a point against LK in 06 & against Offaly around similar time also with back to goals that were simply outstanding.
2 of the best scores Iā€™ve witnessed.

Kelly wasnā€™t tall, overly physical or fast but he had wrists unlike anyone else.

Best Iā€™ve seen in Blue & Gold. Right up there as best forward of last 25 years.

Some set of thighs on him too, a Baysht over the ball and almost impossible to stop once he had a run on you. Heā€™s rated highly but even at that Iā€™d reckon heā€™s still underestimated.

Kelly wintered well too. He took his hurling seriously but he had a life in winter unlike the robotic prototypes we are churning out nowadays. Effort and commitment to the program trump natural ability these days

He was fine and physical. He was a strong, low-set fella.

Unreal wrists though. Got a goal against Clare one time that was unreal. Davy Fitz was still waiting for him to strike when the ball hit the net

The 2001 match v Clare in PUC was the day he really announced himself. Full house on a roasting hot day. He took a huge hit off Baker and Lohan with the ball in his hand and just bounced up off the turf like a handball and stuck it over the bar.

2002 and Gilli cuts in along the end line and had a goal on his mind, pulled a super save out of Cummins. Ball was driven up the field, Kelly ghosts onto it 25 yards out going away from goal and buried it in the top corner. 6 point swing in what was a 2 point game.

38 seconds v Offaly

Was that the one against Kilenaule?, that game kinda has legendary status as a result.
