EPL Today

Well I commented on Raven’s views on the game. It comes as no surprise to me that the match was a poor one. I watched a very good match yesterday that I would have said would compare favourably against it from what I have read. This would not be a view which is expressed a lot in the media so I thought it was a point worth making. Simple as that. Not a rant against the EPL as you describe it rather it is simply an observation on the merits of the the leagues which might have been made before but is worth repeating imo.

You commented on Raven’s views on the game and in doing so added absolutely nothing to this thread. I applaud.

It comes as no surprise to you that the match was a poor one? You didn’t see it. So for being able to draw such a conclusion I applaud you once again.

Your observation worth repeating? Let’s agree to disagree.

How many Liverpool games have you seen this season piper?

None. I watch the EPL rarely to be honest. Most of what I have seen of Liverpool has been in Europe over last few seasons. No I am not surprised about what raven is telling me about the match. From what I have seen of Chelsea and Liverpool over last few years I would have expected the match to be dull. Maybe both sides have changed their styles of play. If they have I stand to be corrected.
Thanks for the applause by the way.

So you’re judging Liverpool based on their European form?

Yes I am. I’d be surprised to learn that they or Chelsea are now entertaining to watch. I have seen neither sides this year but it would surprise me if they were now playing football I’d like to watch as a neutral. I stand to be corrected. I would say as a neutral the Celtic Aberdeen match would have been a far better match to watch but like you I probably have an element of bias in that I support one of the teams who were playing.

Well if you failed to find Liverpool’s comebacks against Olympiakos and Milan entertaining then there’s not much point talking to you. There was also the quick starts against Juventus and Barcelona and hammerings of Leverkusen and PSV. But to be honest I think you see what you want to see and regardless of what Liverpool do you’ll still brand them in your short-sighted way. That’s fine and you can do whatever you please but I think you’re limiting your enjoyment of the sport.

Yes of course Liverpool have played in entertaining matches Clarkey but in general I simply don’t find them to be an attractive side to watch. I’m sure if I looked at all Chelsea’s European matches again I’d be able to pick out a few highlights also. Thats going to be the case with every side be they dull or not. If Chelsea and Liverpool were going to play each other again this weekend I’d expect the match to be dull. If Manchester United and Arsenal were playing well then I’d say based from what I’ve seen of both sides I would say the match would be a far better spectacule. Again I stand to be corrected if Liverpool have changed their style from previous years.

a lsl league game between Malahide & Belgrove finished 3-3 last year & you could call it entertaining but skill wise & attractivness wise it wasnt up to much - the EPL can be entertaining as teams like to get the ball from a to b as quick as possible but i dont regard it as being skillful or worth watching im afraid -

Good post Clarkey, you rose to raven and pied just looking for an argument, but good post all the same.

Pied, Im not going to fall into this tiresome trap that you and raven seem to come up with now and then. I only want to say one thing. The reason you find Liverpool dull to watch is because they have had more European matches shown on tv that you have access to you over the last 3 years. In fact they have probably played more champions league matches than any other European team in the last 3 years.

I love this.

I made my feelings clear, on another thread, about what I think of yet another attempt by raven and piper to annoy people with utter scutter.
