Abidal befriends son of surgeon with Down’s Syndrome

The former Olympique Lyonnais defender is currently recovering from surgery and reports from Spain claim he has made a new friend in the form of Dr. Valdecasas’ son

Barcelona full-back Eric Abidal has struck up an unlikely friendship with the son of the surgeon who recently performed a liver transplant on him, according to Sport.

The France international underwent surgery to replace the organ on April 10 with Dr. Juan Garcia Valdecasas carrying out the operation, just over a year after having a tumour removed from his liver.
Abidal is still recovering in hospital and his time there has seen him grow close to Juan Carlos, otherwise known as ‘Chencho’, the 20-year-old son of Dr. Valdecasas.
Theformer Olympique Lyonnais man regularly receives visit from Chencho, who has Down’s Syndrome, and the youngster has even visited Camp Nou where he met Xavi, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Seydou Keita in the Blaugrana dressing room.

Whats the problem Mullach?

The nature of the article. Why should it be an unlikely friendship, horseshit basically.

Ah jaysus, its just a good news story, stop being a depressing cunt. If it makes Chewie feel happier about the world, then we all win.

Where’s the good news story?

Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has been admitted to hospital to undergo medical examinations following his liver transplant.

The 33-year-old received a transplant in April, with his cousin Gerard providing the donation, as a result of unresolved issues that emerged from previous surgery to remove a tumour in March 2011.

A statement on Barca’s official website read: "Eric Abidal will spend between three to four days at Barcelona’s Hospital Clinic for examinations of the development of the transplant that he underwent last April.

“By express wish of the player, the club is asking for the utmost respect for his privacy and confidentiality.”

Abidal returned to full training in October but is yet to make his return to the Barcelona first team, despite being given the all-clear to play in December.

Made his comeback tonight:clap:

He got a great reception. More than a club.

I was at the camp nou tonight. The crowd went wild when abidal went out warm up and then a standing ovation as he came on and they cheered every touch. He is hugely popular there.

iniesta is one truly brilliant player. He ran the show. fabregas did a fine job as false nine. And bartra looks to have a lot potential.

I would love to be able to go to the psg match but we have to.come home Tuesday.

+1

Typically classless behaviour you expect from Barcelona fans.

Barcelona decided not to renew his contract and have released him. The player himself says he wanted to stay on playing but the Club wouldn’t agree to it. They did offer him a non playing role, and have stated there will be a place for him when he decides to stop playing, or trying to find a club to play with.

More than a club, eh?
