Heās scored 7 today to take himself initially to 27, then all the way to 33? I knew when I looked at the fixtures in the paper this morning, that a trip to second from bottom Bournemouth was the type of flat track bullying that was tailor made for him.
Borussia Dortmund went top of the Bundesliga this afternoon. Theyāre doing just fine without him.
It may well be. Haaland has definitely gone one better than Frankie Bunn of Oldham who only managed six goals in a League Cup tie against Scarborough in October 1989.
I recall Denmarkās Ole Mortensen playing for Derbyshire in the Sunday League on Sky One circa 1990 but off the top of my head I canāt think of any other Scandinavians playing county cricket?
Youād think Erling Braut would be a fearsome fast bowler.
Mention of the 6 goal haul of Frankie Bunn for Oldham Athletic, I think Iām correct in saying that the most recent dual international in soccer and cricket started out his first class career in Oldham in both codes.
Heās incredible, 27 goals already. Ten (10) goals more than England captain, Harry Kane, who is second in the goal charts on 17. And itās Erlingās rookie season in England! Really unbelievable, once in a generation striker.
it is incredible considering he is only 22. You mentioned Kane, around Haalands age he was knocking around on loan at various clubs with varying success.
Heās broken Sergio Agueroās record for goals in a premier league season already, in his first season.
He has more goals than 8 premier league teams not to mind Harry Kane
Erling Haaland has 27 goals in his first 24 Premier League appearances ā better than the best scoring Premier League seasons of Les Ferdinand (25 in 37, 1995/96), Ruud van Nistelrooy (25 in 34, 2002/03), Romelu Lukaku (25 in 37, 2016/17), Fernando Torres (24 in 33, 2007/08), Jamie Vardy (24 in 36, 2015/16), Emmanuel Adebayor (24 in 36, 2007/08), Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (23 in 35, 2000/01 and 2001/02), Ian Wright (23 in 35, 1996/97), Frank Lampard (22 in 36, 2009/10), Sadio Mane (22 in 36, 2018/19), Teddy Sheringham (22 in 41, 1992/93), Dwight Yorke (20 in 32, 1999/2000), Dimitar Berbatov (20 in 32, 2010/11), Raheem Sterling (20 in 33, 2019/20), Michael Owen (19 in 29, 2001/02), Nicolas Anelka (19 in 37, 2008/09), Jermain Defoe (18 in 34, 2009/10) and Robbie Keane (16 in 36, 2005/06).
Not normally. I find Erlingās success in Englandās top division and his demolishing of many long standing records startling. Maybe the second player in the goal scoring charts can knick one today and get within nine (9) goals of Erling.
What records has he demolished? Youāve cited a few stats back to 1995. The English Football League is around since 1888/89. Heās a long way shy of the 60 league goals that Dixie Dean scored in 1927/28 and a bit of work to do still to even match the 41 league goals Jimmy Greaves scored in 1960/61.
Greaves was in a 42 game season. If Haaland continues at the same rate as he has to now heāll get 43 in a 38 game season. I wouldnāt rule it out this season. Dean got 60 goals in his third or fourth season in the first division.
Youād imagine Haaland will get better in the coming seasons. 60 isnāt impossible, heās left a few goals behind him this season and City have been below par in a World Cup year.
no and I find it an absurd notion to be honest. There are more than enough ball playing midfielders without having a false nine. The defensive frailties that are there exist because Fernandinho is gone and he insists on playing Rodri and Gundogan together in midfield neither of whom are blessed with pace. Attacking wise City are at the same scoring rate they were last season. Haaland isnāt exactly lazy when pressing either.
Iām guessing this is as far as a discussion goes with you on football without resorting to politics or being told Iām put out, so weāll leave it there. Have a good day
