It’s irrelevant, given that Ivanka is a different person.

What about Trump’s ridiculous attitude to climate change? It’s going to be one of the biggest factors driving immigration over the next 50 -100 years, immigration being something he is against, yet he is throwing more petrol on the fire that will lead to increased immigration. What a dope.

Convenient that. Her Jewish husband being a senior Trump advisor doesn’t really suit your narrative either.

The bottom half of the US will be a desert at that stage so the Mexicans will have their work cut out

Again, irrelevant.

Racism and anti-semitism amongst politicians are no longer measured in what you say, because you can no longer say blatantly racist or anti-semitic things, or at least we thought so until Trump went on his insane rants about Mexicans and Muslims.

You establish whether racism or anti-semitism are present mainly based on what people don’t say, or on their non-disavowing “disavowals” of support from bigots.

You establish racism and anti-semitism by looking behind the cloak of language and establishing what the real message is. You look at the type of support he attracts and who he aims to attract.

You look at how seriously they treat the issues of racism and anti-semitism. Trump clearly doesn’t take these issues seriously. Neither do a very large part of his support, and certainly a very large majority of his online supporters.

It’s all about plausible deniability.

Trump is entirely happy to lie down with bigots and exploit racist and anti-semitic sentiment for his own benefit, so he shouldn’t complain when he gets labelled as a racist or an anti-semite.

:joy:

You give him too much credit. He says the first thing that comes into his head most of the time, and being called racist or anti-Semitic or anything else doesn’t bother him all that much. Just another thing to shout down.

Question: Do you think racists and anti-semites feel empowered since Trump’s victory?

By their nature both categories of moron have been feeling disempowered since the grand ol days of the Confederacy, so maybe they take comfort from having an orangey-white man back in the White House.
I don’t think he shares their agenda in any particularly heartfelt way though, he took their votes same as anyone else’s, and if he leant one way or the other to do so it wouldn’t bother his conscience too much, nor would it stop him from leaning the opposite way if it suited him.
I think he’s self-serving in an absolute sense rather than any way ideologically inclined.

He doesn’t have to share the agenda of racists and anti-semites in any “heartfelt sense”.

He only has to give them enough succour to make them feel empowered.

And he has certainly done that.

So no examples of Trump’s antisemetic rhetoric then, even though your claim was he used antisemetic rhetoric.

Another example of imaginary news from you, typical of the left these days. Trump is an antisemite because of what he didn’t say. What a load of unadulterated bullshit.

The left is so confused these days. Railing against those who they imagine to be racist or Islamophobic, while refusing to denounce actual blatant human rights violations because it is “their culture”. Because you know, a bit of graffiti scrawled on a wall by an idiot is much more offensive than stoning or choking women to death for refusing to wear a hijab.

I agree, not just on climate change but the anti-science stance of his administration is very disturbing. It’s a sop to the evangelicals who got him elected, they held their noses and voted for a sinner.

The US has been making tremendous progress reducing carbon emissions over the past two decades. China’s emissions are now twice that of the US and continue to ramp higher with India not far behind.

We are fucked basically. Future generations you are welcome, our legacy to you is monstrous financial debt and an uninhabitable planet.

How does the US compare to China or India per head of population?

Yes, but all males between the ages of 16 and 65 that were killed in bombings or drone strikes were defined as enemy combatants, so the official number of civilian deaths was 127.

That’s not the issue, the issue is solely the volume of greenhouse gases we continue to release into the atmosphere. It’s increasingly at an alarming rate as the developing world has industrialized. In reality, efforts at reduction by the US and Europe are becoming irrelevant. China for example pays lip service to climate change, but in reality they don’t give a shit.

:grinning:

I think we can now summarize the worldview of the PC snowflake based on this thread and the Marine Le Pen thread.

Hateful graffiti is the greatest human rights problem facing humanity, as people have been known to die horrible deaths viewing it.

Stoning women to death for not wearing a hijab is simply an unfortunate side effect of respecting culture. When in Rome, etc.

Got it.
