Cue Fitzy’s famous anger post from the Puke

I can only assume that the reason Setanta aren’t showing the game is because it is live on ESPN.

Pretty sure they have had every home game and Setanta every away game in this campaign so none of you c**ts know what your talking about!

Ah lovely,

CYBIG!

Ya, i’m going to leave this one, he’ll go home and bate the wife if we don’t ease off i’d say.

This should be good

I see Dan McDonnell in the Irish Independent mentioning the difference between Robbie Keane emphatically wanting to play in the second leg tonight compared to Roy Keane skipping the second leg in Iran 10 years ago so he could be ready for Manchester United’s trip to Valley Parade or Filbert Street the following weekend. I guess that’s what makes Robbie an Irish legend and Roy a fucking cunt. Well in as usual Robbie.

Bandage, can I just say how fantastic it has been to have you back supporting our boys these past couple of years. I cant help but feel its been a small part of the difference, in this campaign especially. These are special times.

Cmon Ireland.

I think we’ve finally come full circle on Robbie and the haters are either staying mute to save face or they’ve changed their minds again. The third highest international goal-scorer of current international players and 25th highest ever. What an achievement.

Pikemans absence is very notable for sure.

To Robbie  :pint:

Thanks MBB - that means a lot.

I’m in a great position to conclude that Roy Keane is a wanker because I was similarly on a self-imposed international exile and I accept it was awful behaviour.

Robbie waved his hands in the air on at least 3 occasions on Friday night. Let’s not forget that.

Marvellous Bandage. I’m wearing my Euskal Herria national top today in solidarity with our Basque friends.

Gerry cleaning house. Fantastic stuff.

Roy Keane was injured as was clearly illustrated in the first leg of that tie. Seem to recall plenty of other Irish international players missing international games with injuries only for those injuries to heal and them to play for their clubs on the Saturday after. One of them is playing up front tomorrow morning Sydney time.

As an aside did any of ye listen to the recent OTB podcast from Talinn. Fucking hell, Ken Earley, Miguel Delaney and Dion talking absolute scutter for about 20 mins, Brian Kerr brought in to talk about the game but admitted in the first couple of mins that he hadn’t seen Ireland play much in the last 2 years and that Murph, fucking hell Murph, giving away tickets in a bar in Talinn and talking to drunk supporters.

Also on the guardian football weekly podcast, some lad Evan Fanning was giving the uninformed Irish view. He is part of the great Fanning journalist family?

Yes, Evan is part of the great dynasty.

I have no recollection of that Iran home game other than Robbie’s great left footed half volley finish for one of the goals (or was it right footed?) but I’m certain Roy Keane was faking injury.

Of course Keane was faking injury. An ultimate spoofer and coward of the highest degree.

And a leprechaun outfit wearing cunt too.

Robbie was very poor in that campaign. But got a cracker that night. One of only 2 in qualifying. Harte got a peno but seem to recall Given having to make saves after fuck ups from Gary Breen the same night.

How is Harte doing with Reading this season does anyone know? Great to see him enjoying his football again after a career that fizzled out for many years. Not sure what went wrong with him. Does anyone know? Supposed to have been a bit of a boozer but went from playing Champions League to having trials for SPL clubs in a fairly short space of time.

He is a simpleton of the highest order alright but was anything but a spoofer and a coward on the pitch anyway.

I can only remember Roy Keane having one good game for Ireland - at home to Portugal in qualifying for World Cup 2002.

Credit where credit is due he was excellent away to Cyprus as well

Probably his best one that I can remember. Bit before my time but the elders on here might confirm that his performance away to Spain in maybe 1993 was his best one in an Irish shirt. Italy in USA 94 he was outstanding. Even his last one at home to France he was excellent. He beat a few minnows on his own in qualifying for WC02 - Cyprus and Andorra but they might not count for much.

He missed a lot of crucial games during his international career though. Can’t be arsed googling it but did he play in the playoffs in 1997 and 1999? Think he was defo out with the knee ligaments for one of those.
