Canât recall how he got on in the Croatia and Yugoslavia games in the euro 2000 qualifying. Canât remember him in Skopje on the night we fucked away qualification or the playoff games.
Just checked YouTube he definitely played in the home playoff against Turkey. Robbie Keane scored after a layoff from Connolly. Only thing I remember from that game is the daft handball by Carsley. Fucking hell it was ridiculous
I remember the Yugoslvia away game well in that campaign and for me it was one of his greatest performances ever for any team. Donât think we won the game hence why it doesnât get remembered as much.

Points were thrown away in Croatia and Macedonia with last minute goals conceded but it was a miracle of Moscow like proportions that the defeat was only 1-0 in Zagreb if memory serves correct. Seem to recall Cunnigham being outstanding and McCarthy going with Cascarino as a lone centre forward.
Qualification was well and truly fucked away in that campaign.
