He didnât play in the Belgium games in 1997 anyway - I watched that McCarthy Park documentary recently and he was absent. He missed that penalty away to Romania in that campaign after he was rightfully booed at home to Iceland.
The calls to arms from Cathal Dervan really worked a treat alright. Actually he was excellent in the away tie against Iceland too. Def scored one if not 2 goals in that game. Kilbane made his debut that day.
Canât recall how he got on in the Croatia and Yugoslavia games in the euro 2000 qualifying. Canât remember him in Skopje on the night we fucked away qualification or the playoff games.
Just checked YouTube he definitely played in the home playoff against Turkey. Robbie Keane scored after a layoff from Connolly. Only thing I remember from that game is the daft handball by Carsley. Fucking hell it was ridiculous
I remember the Yugoslvia away game well in that campaign and for me it was one of his greatest performances ever for any team. Donât think we won the game hence why it doesnât get remembered as much.
He scored in both the home games against Croatia and Yugoslavia. Google search jogged my memory. Points were thrown away in Croatia and Macedonia with last minute goals conceded but it was a miracle of Moscow like proportions that the defeat was only 1-0 in Zagreb if memory serves correct. Seem to recall Cunnigham being outstanding and McCarthy going with Cascarino as a lone centre forward.
Qualification was well and truly fucked away in that campaign.
Did Roy Keane play in Skopje and Zagreb does anyone know? Had forgotten that Rory Delap played right midfield back then and Duff was only a sub. Duff was a sub pretty much until the WC in 2002 wasnât he?
i dont know why keano gets somuch hassle for feigning injuries- it actually was of benefit to us as he was so poor in an Irish jersey
also he dressed as a leprechaun for walkers

He did not.
I would have considwered the loss of Quinn, Staunton and Irwin (for the second leg after being the subject of an attempted crippling by Paul Bosvelt) as far bigger blows.
not a fan of Paul Bosvelt but by God he went up in my estimation for laying into that Irwin cunt that day
What did Irwin do to deserve your ire?
he sickens me- everything about him is repugnant
What was a Dutch footballer doing playing for Belgium or did it happen in a club match?
ah now, what do you think puke?
tackled irwin in a CL game playing for feyenoord.
GSP would have called it a gedan mawashi geri.
ridiculously low, prompted fergie to leave the dugout and berate the feyenoord bench.
think the ref didnât even book him, as the bench pointed out, with fergie audibly retorting âtha dinnae make it fookin righâ
Iâm guilty of starting this tangent but it would be super if we could redirect our focus to the great bunch of lads representing us now instead of harking back to scumbags like Roy Keane and Denis Irwin.
Rory Delap on SSN here now being interviewed from Stoke going on about our chances of qualifying and saying what a great group of lads we have. He also mentioned the ecomomic and social benefits to the country qualification would bring. Heâs poppyless.
I am expecting a carnival atmosphere tonight.
Hopefully an early goal for us and the Estonians wonât be bothered and we can all enjoy ourselves without being distracted by the soccer.
Incredible scenes :o
Are you premium again tonight?
I am going to predict three things for tonight
[]We will win
[]We will keep a clean sheet

& Robbie Keane will score
Hâon Ireland to fuck
I heard somewhere Robbie needs a couple of goals to be all time top scorer in European Qualifying Competitions, can anyone confirm this is true? I expect him to pick up at least a brace.
1 More to tie.2 to break the record.Probably never be broken either unless Robbie can do the business tonight.incredible achievement.Fair play to Rory Delap.Iâd nearly give him a call up for not doing a spineless Keith wood or Paul Wallace on it.
