I can tell you this is a worldwide phenomenon. Fitzy Jnr plays representative U9’s and its the same thing. When the opposing team have a kick out, our coach is shouting at the boys to hold back, stop pressurising 'let them play"is the constant refrain. Its all about passing and posession. Its a great thing to watch under 9’s passing and moving and trying to play the game correctly, holding their positions and taking responsibility for their specific jobs. When they score a goal after 10 passes (I’ve seen this loads of times this season) there’s a warm glow around our Egyptian born coach.
I think the refereeing has been awful for the most part and they’re not letting games flow enough. Way too much whistling for minor contact / winning battles of strength etc and buying lads falling over and time wasting.
