ffs you could probably mark Keane yourself. Our only hope is contain them, draw them out a bit and hit them on a break. You can’t do that with old lads who can’t run. Somehow we need to get Brady and Coleman running at them. If they play Darmian he is very vulnerable.
Long’s been next to useless up front, why not Keane? Give him his one last hurrah, he might actually add some guile in there. Agree about Coleman and Brady. Brady I don’t see as a problem from left back, he defends well and if Hendrick is in front of him, he has the confidence to go forward. The only way we’ll get Coleman running at them though is if he has someone behind him defending, put him on the right wing and tell him to run at them, it’s the best part of his game and we need to get balls into the box.

Neil O’Riordan is reporting that Ward, O’Shea, Clark & McCarthy are all to be dropped for the Italy game while it is 50/50 as to whether long is retained ahead of Slab.

Italy reportedly making 9 changes to their starting line up for tomorrow night. It really devalues the tournament when this kind of thing happens and reserve teams are fielded.
Can you list previous tournaments which have been devalued by such carry on? Please be extensive.

Agreed. Happy with McCarthy and Clark getting dropped. Could argue either way with Ward but it’s just to facilitate putting Brady back I imagine. O’Shea has been fine though. Could be knackered I suppose.
Bizarrely italians know they are now playing Spain Monday night so this is really set up for the Eire. Italians will be jumping out of tackles and avoiding cards in what is no more than a training match for them.
Looks like we’ll be playing Croatia next after we beat Italy tomorrow.

Group F has the look of three teams advancing. If Eire do make it through, by my reckoning its France v Eire and Wales v Northern Ireland in the Round of 16.
