He did the same with Celtic too when he switched to a 4-4-2. The problem with Celtic was that he only had Agathe and McNamara who were suitable to playing at full back and you’d be lucky to get 15 games out of Agathe a season.

I think with Celtic is was an issue of not having any decent full backs to play there, probably similar with Villa at the time.

When Agathe and McNamara were fit for O’Neill we were a much better side.

He bought full back after fullback at Villa (Shorey. Young Warnock Lihij Beye Hughes Bardsley Aghate) and still played the likes Carlos Cuellar at right back over and over again.

They’re pretty shit though, he definitely seemed to have a blind spot in identifying a good full back. He inherited McNamara and bought Agathe as a wing back.

Hendrick has been a great find who probably hasn’t got the credit he deserves this campaign. He is very good at pressing and covering ground and has lovely quick feet. Probably lacking a bit in his range if passing to be a real top class midfield player but there is a lot to like about him

Guys, anyone think Neuer was acting the dick for the goal? He kind of knelt down and seemed to try to smack the ball away with his swinging closed fist in a volleyball type motion. He didn’t move his feet and try to push/tip it away in a more conventional manner. Granted it was drilled across him with lots of pace but I sensed a bit of arrogance there.

That was my take on it. I’d say they are supremely confident of beating Georgia and would do anything to knock out the Poles. Great day for the Irelands obviously but Mueller’s miss was comical. It just needed a caption over it “fuck you Poland”.
