Just one of those things, itâs very difficult to adjust your hands so quickly when youâve already committed so much, some days he would have got it.
His point blank save in the second half was real top drawer stuff, I posted immediately after that it was better than Banks but I was being a bit ironic in light of the forum infatuation with Buffon, watch both back and itâs obvious which is better.
The footballâs used back in Banksâ day were like cement blocks. A modern keeper could go for a cup a tea, have a short nap and come back and still save it. Banks wouldnât lace Buffonâs boots.

If Buffon had dived the wrong direction, heâd be getting no criticism. He guessed the right side but didnât guess that it would be a shit enough kick which caught him out. Heâs had a fine tournament.

Iâve watched it back a couple of times and agree if he didnt guess right etcâŚhowever he did and he was very slow getting to the floor, something which keepers should make 1st priority for a penalty (Nuer for example for the preceding pen, although a poor strike he covered the ground of the side he guessed, immediately). The final pen wasnt the best, it did have some power behind it though and the bounce was the luck really, although i think that was stoppable if he got down to the floor quick enough. Penalties as we know is a cruel way to go and the advantage is always with the strikers not the keepers. there was some shocking pens taken which was out of Buffonâs hands tbf. He is a legend, will he stay for the WC?

The Iceland keeperâs jersey is class.
On a side note, I think Belgium should move heaven and earth to get Louis Van Gaal to manage them. But I doubt they would want a Dutchman in charge
