Sweden lost narrowly to Brazil in the semis with a goal from Romario.
Sweden were appalling in that semi-final despite only losing 1-0. Played for penalties from the start. Romania would have been a much better semi-final opponent for Brazil.
Bulgaria were a bit better against Italy but there was still a bit of a āhappy to be thereā vibe off them.
South American football is at its lowest standard in decades, a load of shit teams with the inevitable final of Brazil and Argentina, the world cup winners next year will 100% be European most likely either Italy, France or Spain.

They had a very close group match of the highest quality. I remember watching it before we played Croatia and thinking we had to face that.
But the final was a completely different affair.

Some Lads have a very funny attitude to Italy ā¦they think itās all slicked back hair , bronzed skin and pristine white speedos ā¦ thereās a large chunk of Italy thatās nearer to the third world than first ā¦and donāt even get me started on the cunts buying up the Spanish olives and repackaging them as Italian

They needed penalties to get past Italy in 2008. Camoranesi had the best chance of the game with one cleared off the line. That was the first ever win over Italy at a major tournament. Italy destroyed Spain at the last Euros too.
Italy have a phenomenal record against their big European counterparts at major competitions. The penalty defeat to Germany in the last Euros was their first ever defeat at a major finals to them. Did not lose to Spain until 2008 on penalties. Still unbeaten v England. Favourable record v France.
