Euro 2020 thread (Part 1)

Enqrique still bitter about being discarded by Los Blancos.

Ramos is the best in the world in his position. Nobody does sitting in the stand looking panicked as his team loses better than he does. Another exceptional performance on Saturday.

Ramos was a liability against Chelsea in the UCL.

Interesting move by Enrique. The opposite of Big Jack bringing Bernie Slaven along and making Quinn third choice keeper.

Not if he’s not going to use them.

Might be different for two players to tag along with a Jack Charlton team and have craic and pints. Id say to tag along to a tournament nowadays knowing there is zero chance of playing and sitting around all day would be shite.

We’d have beaten Iceland in the quarter-finals and sure we’d already taken care of Germany the previous year. Who knows what could have happened in the final against Portugal!

Amazing how many people forget how good we were in those games.

I have nothing but fond memories of the O’Neill era. Even for the Denmark play off there was a great build up around the ground beforehand and the first 25 minutes were epic.

The team played fairly well but I always thought that Italy let us win.

We’d be fairly sound like that.

Catholics looking out for each other.

I don’t think they let us win but they took their beating very well.

The performance for 55 minutes in the lions den against France was as good as I have ever seen ireland play. That was some French team.

McClean had a very good chance IIRC

It’s only Armenia for fuck sake.

I mean if they had qualified for the Euros, it would be very strange. For friendlies, they might want to try out different, younger players.

I put 50 euros each way on Switzerland at 60/1 to win this thing

Lacking a really good striker for me.

oh absolutely but they are very consistent and that squad has to be hitting peak now , even tho i think the 2019 Nations League campaign may have been it.
I read there in world soccer that they have never won a knockout fixture at a football tournament as well
9/2 is a great price for them to win a wide open grpA - over the last 4 years they have been much better than wales/italy/turkey ( italy will be favourites based primarily on historical tournament pedigree tbh as that squad has yet to really do anything of note bar beat Greece and Bosnia IMHO, there might have been a Nations league v holland in there)…
turkey are liable to do anything btw
jesus remember the 2008 QF v Croatia… Bilic’s wild celebrations… the croat -moslem war in 1993 hanging all over the game…some great demonstraions of overt nationalism on show from teams and fans…what a game

Fucking facebook

Yeah, they have a very good team the Swiss to be fair. That group could go anyway.
