You can’t have more than two host countries in one group. Were drawn with Germany and Holland but they are also hosts we got moved to the next group.
Northern Ireland then got drawn with the two heavyweights
Can’t have 3 Euro 2020 hosts in the same group

Not Germany and Holland
Denmark, Georgia and Switzerland
Tough pot 4 draw
Switzerland and Denmark. We still won’t get in the top 2. Georgia as well, they’re tricky cunts

Don’t want Kosovo
First two groups drawn - Holland and Germany in Group C.
Draw took place for third pot. A and B drawn fine. Obviously we didn’t want to be drawn next in the group with the two heavyweights. Low and behold out we come - gasps of despair in the auditorium. Camera cuts to a smiling Mick McCarthy who has a rueful look on his face.
Then dramatically the draw host says “due to the draw rules we can’t have hosts in the same group so the Republic are moved to Group D.”
Then the North are promptly drawn out next and put into Group C with the Dutch and Germans.
