Seems a bit strange that Libertas are advertising on this site. Disappointing to know that advertising revenue enjoyed by rock, bandage and myself is coming from Ganley’s millions. Need plenty more of it by looks of today’s poll:
A new opinion poll shows a big drop in support for Fianna Fil in the wake of this month’s Supplementary Budget.
The Red C poll in tomorrow’s Sunday Business Post also suggests that Libertas has not yet made much impact in the European Parliament election campaign.
Last month’s Red C poll for the Sunday Business Post showed a five per cent bounce in support for Fianna Fil.
AdvertisementHowever, in the wake of the Supplementary Budget, support for the party is down five points to 23%. Fine Gael is a full ten points clear at 33%, an increase of two while Labour also up two to 19%.
The Greens continue to escape the unpopularity of the Government, holding steady at 7%. Sinn Fin gain one to 8% and Independents and others are unchanged at 10%.
Red C also asked people how they would vote in the local and European elections on 5 June, and the figures are broadly similar, although Independents score slightly better in the locals, mainly at the expense of Fine Gael.
In the European elections, the poll found support for the new Libertas party at just 2%, leaving the party with a lot of work to do in the next six weeks.
Fianna Fil are obviously expecting to be cleaned out at the European and local elections, but they’d clearly prefer that than to suffer at the next general election. The sly cunts will act all humble and profess to have learned important lessons, will vow to take on board what they electorate have said etc and then this stupid nation will fall for it and vote the cunts back in again.
Is there anything a bit dodgy/untoward about the way they’re holding off on having the by-elections for Seamus Brennan’s and Tony Gregory’s old seats? As in, if we have them now then we’ll get annihilated - let’s hold back until the Autumn to see if the economy’s stabilised somewhat and Budget x2 won’t still be fresh in everyone’s minds. Brennan passed away nearly a year ago at this stage.
Also, I looked at the front of the Sindo in the shop earlier and there’s a posed picture of Mary Coughlan and she’s showing a bit of leg. Disgusting.

i assume SF & FF are awaiting the results of the europeans before deciding who to put up for the by elections- the voluptous mary lou might run if she loses the european
Someone in work’s just mentioned that RTE’s George Lee will be running for Fine Gael in the by-election for Seamus Brennan’s old seat. Presume he’ll have to resign his position with RTE due to a conflict of interests?
Excellent move for FG. They’ve always been thought to have the best finance mind in the Dil with Bruton, adding George Lee to that really positions them as the only party with a grip on the economy.
Are they electable though. I’m not aware of a single coherent policy they have that is different from the status quo. Having Lee on board at least gives their front bench more clout but Enda Kenny is an imbecile in fairness.
I would argue the other way.
I think this is good for FF.
FG are making a move too early. Introducing Lee now is seen to be a good move but it’s a good move at the wrong time perhaps.
If he comes in and nothing changes (people will expect changes) then FF will go to town on him and FG and come general election time FG will have made al their plays and FF will no doubt have a plan.
It seems to me that FG are smart enough and have the ability to win general elections but they blow their loads about 2 years too early, when it doesn’t matter.
I think thats happening again.
Was listening to him on the news at one with Sean O Rourke,he got kicked around the place i thought,O Rourke took him apart with a litany about conflicts of interest etc and then finished with a fairly snide"would you say you would be a good man to hold a clinic in a local community george" Sean thinks hed be shit at things like that,it was a good welcome to hell type interview for George.
Yeah heard that. Was obvious O’Rourke had to be tough on him and he was. Also heard Lee on Last Word, Lunchtime on Newstalk and TV3 News and he spoke well each time. Reading between the lines he doesn’t seem to have much time for Kenny which is encouraging.
FG have thrown out a couple of these “Celebrity” candidates recently with mixed success. Geraghty and O’Mahoney in the last one. Lee and Sean Kelly now. Makes good publicity but if the lads aren’t worth a fook theres not much point putting them forward.
does it really matter who has the best finance mind between the 2 centre right parties, wouldnt the top civil servants & economists in the dept of finance & the central bank be making the calls whatever happens?
