they wont be as mad when they realise that if superleague isnt bound by FIFA and UEFA that they wont be releasing players for AFCON or other internationals

Just hoping the reaction has them spooked.

the first team that pulls out of this will be heroes

Spuds will literally be the last club to leave it.

Aston Villa v Lazio has a big Anglo-Italian Cup vibe about it.

I honestly think the people behind this have completely misjudged the mood and don’t understand football at all. Jeopardy is a key aspect of football, which means relegation, it means consequences of not qualifying for Europe. A 12 team closed league is a terrible “product”. “Protecting” your investment by moving it to a 12 team closed league would likely mean destroying it.

But surely the people behind this aren’t that stupid that they will stop at a 12 or 15 team league closed league. The likes of Ajax, Feyenoord, Benfica, Porto, Anderlecht, Celtic and Rangers are actually key players here I think.

Are the people behind this planning to step outside Europe? Maybe a Chinese franchise or an African franchise? And three or four US ones? Could they approach Boca Juniors, River Plate, Flamengo and Sao Paolo etc.? Is the ultimate goal of this a closed World League?

Why are you siding with the Tories?

It’s been pointed out by journos that they haven’t at any point mentioned Europe in their statements

If we can get Tractor FC or Persepolis in then I’m sold.

The Chinese would pump serious money into this if they got a franchise or two. US fans wouldn’t care about lack of tradition either. Where else around the world would be likely sites for franchises? India? Saudi Arabia? South Africa? Japan?

Starting this August.

I’m pleased with that. Could be horribly drawn out brinksmanship otherwise.

Agreed. I’m also delighted to find out that Jack Chambers is a liverpool fan.

Got to get an Iranian team in it though I would imagine the forces of good like Russia and Iran will be left out of this capitalist lovefest.

There’s a market for a “Proud Boys FC” or something from the USA.
