Just looking on the RTE Player there and saw that a tribute to Noel Kelehan was broadcast earier tonight. I wasn’t even aware he had died earlier this year. I always felt a surge of pride every year when Noel did his little salute to the camera before Ireland’s representative would perform. The word stalwart can be fairly applied to Noel. A conducting legend. Eurovision was never quite the same after the conductors and orchestras were done away with, it lost some of its gravitas.
I’ve had a cut off Ireland at 2.86 to finish in the top 10.

We won in Armenia. No reason why we can’t win in Azerbaijan. I have grave misgivings about Jedward representing us again this year. I believe somebody else should have been given the chance. Red Hurley or somebody. But now that the lads are there, it’s time to get behind them. Confidence is high in the Irish camp.
