A few of us called it on the night of the national contest. We let ourselves down that night and the chickens came home to roost in Malmo. Ashamed to be Irish after that.

Didn’t see any if it can I get a summary? Who did we vote for?

We really need to get down on our hands and knees and beg Jedward to represent us again next year

Johnny Logan and Shay Healy must be turning in their graves :frowning:

It’s possible not even Ryan Dolan’s family and friends will show up at the airport to welcome him home after that debacle. Our 7 Eurosong crowns seem to count for very little this morning.

We are like Liverpool FC with regards Eurovision, living on our past achievements and now full of bitterness and contempt towards todays winners due to our own current short comings, for shame.

We are still a “big country” in Eurovision. The biggest, in fact. In a big country, dreams stay with you.

We must never let go of our dreams.

I said it last night during the performance that it was too homoerotic for our Eastern European neighbours. We need to go back to our roots but it will never happen as long as the pernicious pink mafia is running the RTE.

Irish people taking this serious

What a shower of handicaps.

This is one step away from a drag contest… Let the queers and ladyboys at it ffs and move on.

He was fairly screwed from day one

ORGANISERS OF THE EUROVISION Song Contest have released new rules today which they said would increase openness on jury voting, which makes up 50 per cent of the outcome in each country.

Under the new rules, the names of all jury members will be announced on 1 May, before the contest and the rankings of each jury member for all shows will be published right after the final.

Executive supervisor of the event Jon Ola Sand said that they want to make sure to do their utmost to secure a fair result.

Despite the focus of today’s announcement on openness and transparency, Sand said that the points per jury member for previous years will not be released as this is not included in the rules for those years.

An investigation into alleged attempts to influence the voting has been taking place over the last few months. There have been claims that Azerbaijan – the runner up in the most recent contest – bribed other countries into voting for its act.

An undercover video that surfaced before the final, showed two individuals approaching people to cast large amounts of votes in favour of the country. Organisers were quick to state at the time that a link had not been established between these people and the Azeri delegation but an investigation was launched to look into the allegations

Sand said today that the organisers want to “put an end to these speculations, and clamp down on attempts to unfairly influence the voting”.

As well as the changes to jury rules, a section on the contest’s website will be opened so jury members and viewers can report voting irregularities and they can be investigated.

The contest will be held on 6, 8 and 10 of May next year in Copenhagen.

EUROVISION SINGER AND "YOU’RE A STAR WINNER DORAN HELD FOR AFFRAY.

From todays Sindo.

Eight people - including a former Eurovision singer - were brought before Carrick-on-Suir district court in Co. Waterford last night, following a row in the town early on Saturday morning.

The seven men and one woman included Chris Doran from Waterford city, who represented Ireland in the 2004 Eurovision, coming 23rd out of 24 entries.

All eight have been remanded on bail and are due back in court in July. Each of the accused face one charge of violence or threatening to use violence in an incident alleged to have taken place shortly before 9am yesterday in Sean Kelly square. Three of the eight were arrested in Carrick-on-Suir, while the other five were arrested in Clonmel.

Chris Doran won the "You’re a Star competition on RTE in 2004 and represented Ireland in the Eurovision in Istanbul. He was remanded on bail on his own bond of €500 and is due back in court on July 4th. Afterwards he was driven away by members of his own family. He is to reside at his apartment in Tramore and has to observe a curfew from 11pm to 7am each night.

Of the eight, six have addresses in Clonmel, one in Fethard in Co Tipperary and one in Tramore.[/QUOTE]

I see seven guilty pleas today arising out of this incident but charges against Chris dropped.

Don’t underestimate the power of the Eurovision mafia
