Thats the reason they play there, at least some of them. Not to keep going on about it but i did share an armwrest with a former storm stalwart on a trans Pacific flight last year, who has since jumped to the lesser code. I asked him that very question, he said many players moved there for the tight knit kiwi/Queenslander squad, and how his best mate billy slater had told him he resisted ever moving to brissy or Sydney so he could have as normal as possible life out of the limelight.

Wallaby and Queensland Reds back Karmichael Hunt has been charged with two counts of possessing drugs, believed to be cocaine. Hunt, 31, was arrested in Brisbane. In March 2015, Hunt was fined after pleading guilty to four counts of cocaine possession and was among seven Gold Coast Titans charged over an alleged drugs ring. This reflects really badly on the ARU
Considering all the red flags from his 2015 conviction and stories of his extreme drug taking, it’s no surprise to see this, and as you say, reflects badly on the rugby authorities as it was always going to blow up in their face, pardon the pun
