To be fair to Cooper, he was never as bad as O’Connor for partying. His issues early on were mostly his attitude. He got himself together 4 years ago and then the injuries came. He can still produce some great moments as you say, but he isn’t the player he was.
You really can’t underestimate the influence of Cam Smith on Queensland. Thurston could easily have gone the way of O’Connor or Beale if he didn’t get his head down.
Smith defo has his head screwed on. Playing in Melbourne probably helps him have a more normal life.
