Faldo's DIY General thread

I was gonna face off a wall in the garden with cedar cladding this summer, it’s quite expensive, is that some sort of pine? Would it be as durable as the cedar?

Jaysus you’re as handy as a small pot

Cedar is crazy money but it’s class in fairness… Shiplatt is the finest and is very good weather wise

Doesn’t larch have similar weathering properties to cedar?

could you do anything for poor @iron_mike and his garden bench?

What’s the handiest way of staining the spindles on the decking. A brush is savage hardship… Do them paint mitts work?

Get yourself a sprayer in lidl and use a brush. You will have it Don in no time

Spray it and brush to tidy it up then?

Apply via sprayer and spread it/even it out with the brush for the neat finish

Lads, I’ve a long unplastered block wall in the back garden of the house, separating a raised back lawn from the concrete yard below. I want to tidy it up a bit but I’d prefer not to go plastering it if at all possible, mainly due to the cost and hassle of it. I’d be slow in giving something like plastering a wall a go myself, even if it is a just a garden wall

Any other alternatives? If you paint straight onto block do you need to prime it especially beforehand?

Is pebble dash a cheaper option to smooth plaster?

2 by 1 and sheet it…

I’d whitewash it personally.
