I’m looking to buy a new pair of football boots, what make would you chaps advise and how much we talking? Had a quick look last week and the things on display were shocking… paper weight and I’d they would fall apart after a decent tackle. Looking for a solid but comfy boot.

Are you looking for moldies or winter boots?

Winter boots I’d say… Lower league junior soccer, pal.

I have a pair of these and I like them, they are light but durable

Unfortunately if you are looking for a pair that dont make you look like a queer then your options are limited.
World Cups or Puma Kings are nearly the only “sensible” good quality boot out there at the moment. You are talking €80 - €100.

Failing that I would go with something like these

Sound, lads… It has been a while and some of what passes for boots now days is a joke. Flash boots and a flash haircut are the prerequisite for all aspiring footballers it seems.

id agree
i play on rock hard pitches so i have a few pairs of queer looking boots that wouldnt last 5 minutes at home in ireland in the AUL or MSL or whatever , you’d be broken in two if you turned up wearing them against the likes of Temple Utd
Im really out of touch with what to wear in winter weather, out here the football is almost a non contact sport, there’s no physicality, pink, yellow boots are de rigeur and by and large there is fuck all of a difference
I have a couple of pairs of Puma Evo Speeds, they’re like spikes you’d wear on a track, you get no protection at all,

‘If you look good, you play good’

@TreatyStones knows the score.

very good point

Puma Kings are the way to go

I had a pair of Puma King Execsw which were the nicest/most comfortable boots I ever owned. Got about 4 winters out of them until they finally disintergrated

Adidas World Cups for the moldies, Puma Kings for the studs.

The umbro speciali are a fine boot as well, durable and not as expensive as the 2 above

Was always a huge fan of the Speciali in my youth.
That looks like a serious deal, they are proper leather ya?

yeah, I buy boots off them a good bit, they are marked down from 82 quid, definitely leather. Prodirect have some really good deals, in fairness to the fuckers.

On a side note, has anyone seen any pricks at junior soccer level wearing those luminous ankle boots yet?
