I had a very productive outcome from a meeting with a Chartered Accountant yesterday evening.
A complete professional in ever way… carrying out complex arithmetic in his head before validating these calculations on the latest Samsung Galaxy tab, paying for the rather tasty meal even as I protested strongly, complimenting the IT profession… these were just some of the highlights. The way he could switch from serious business to common small talk in a glint of an eye was unrivaled.
A wonderful experience rounded off greatly by the fact this guy is going to save me a lot of hard earned cash.

@Fagan ODowd After some harmless haggling and after I pointed out some distant family connections he wavered the initial flat introductory fee and all payment from now on are performance based.

Of course there’ll be bad apples hidden within any group of people. But you can’t go tarring everybody with the same brush. It’d be like saying every BBC television or radio personality from the 1970s and 1980s was a paedophile.

I’m concerned after reading this. Are you paying him based on the money you will save? Or is it task / time based?
calculating the tip is not complex arithmetic
For Example: He gets 5% of what ever he saved me. At the end of January 2013 we review the work he has carried out. Let say he saved saved me 20k in 2013. He gets 1000 euro for his troubles.
I don’t have time to check but I’m pretty sure he’s not supposed to charge on that basis. @Appendage will probably confirm but AFAIK contingent fees are prohibited.
