Tax Evation [sic]
I don’t have time to check but I’m pretty sure he’s not supposed to charge on that basis. @Appendage will probably confirm but AFAIK contingent fees are prohibited.
Please send details by PM and we can refer this to the appropriate disciplinary body if necessary.

You’re right, as ever, @briantinnion. You can’t charge a client on a % profits made / money saved basis etc. A risk there of signing off on dodgy financial statements if you’re incentivised based on the profits therein.
@briantinnion and myself are organising a table for the Leinster Society Chartered Accountants Christmas Lunch in The Burlington Hotel on Friday, 13th December. Please let us know on this thread if you wish to join us at the table. I understand @Rocko, @farmerinthecity and @ClarkeyCat will also be at the table. There’s a maximum of 8 places per table. Applicants must be chartered accountants.
KP please beware that recently revenue began a clampdown on contractors who have set themselves up as single employee firms, with specific focus on high travel and subsistence claims.
I can confirm I can make this event to boost numbers and increase the profile, as my own Xmas lunch is on the previous Friday.
I had a very productive outcome from a meeting with a Chartered Accountant yesterday evening.
A complete professional in ever way… carrying out complex arithmetic in his head before validating these calculations on the latest Samsung Galaxy tab, paying for the rather tasty meal even as I protested strongly, complimenting the IT profession… these were just some of the highlights. The way he could switch from serious business to common small talk in a glint of an eye was unrivaled.
A wonderful experience rounded off greatly by the fact this guy is going to save me a lot of hard earned cash.
Did he discuss the massive clampdown on contractors dodgy expenses that the revenue are kicking off ye did?
Keep up dan. I’ve already covered this.
Who calculates what you could have paid? I hope it’s not he self same individual who’s income depends on it. Couldn’t be?
Are you an accountant, pal?
Great minds
Tax advisors do it.
The accountants on the thread are more concerned with discussing fee structures and boozy lunches, while we are left to dispense the taxation advice
Thanks Pal.
No worries on that. Revenue have blizted the munster region in the past 6 months and have now hit the midlands/west region. Some lads have been cleaned…
I wonder how the likes of CXP will come through these audits?
I had a meeting a month or so ago with an English crowd who have recently set up shop in Dublin-their arrangements consist of my salary being paid to them, whereby they then pay me about €18k per year which is taxable and then pay me the rest of the salary, less a 5% commission, as “loans” from them, which I never have to pay back and which are not taxable.
Of course, being a patriot, I told them to fuck off and I can happily report that my ENTIRE €21k salary is FULLY taxable.

Not bad going each month, and I had you down as a fool
Fool me-you can’t get fooled again.

Report these cunts to the Revenue
Apparently it’s all “legit”, mate in the same way that Jimmy Carr’s case was technically legit. They’ve just opened an office in Ballsbridge and make no secret of what services they provide. The lady I met with is a rather attractive older woman so it might be of interest @Fagan ODowd to meet her.
Living in Dublin on 21k a year must be an awful ball ache
