There was some unreal talent queuing up for it the other evening outside the RDS-I think they might have thought that Di Caprio was going to be there. Lots of young go getters in 3 piece suits too. The queue was very long and traffic around the RDS was mayhem-people are strange.
That was the cherry on top.
3.5 hours CPD.
Basically the whole length of the conference. When technical stuff only took up an hour and 15 minutes.
Incorrect mate. This guy is only a two bob salesman. I am assuming the crowd was made up of students studying business and bought their first three piece (with a dickybow FFS) for whatever grad ball they attended recently.
What was the attendance like? Anyone hear?
Can’t understand how anyone would pay to fucking listen to him. The guy was a fraud and he preyed on vulnerable financially illiterate people. Call them up, use cheap sales tactics a to get them to send you cash. What’s hard about that? I heard him on Pat Kenny on Newstalk a few weeks ago and he claimed he was gonna make $45m from his speaking tour. Yeah, good man.
I’d pay money to listen to someone like Jeff Skilling though.

3,000 at it apparently. There really are some stupid cunts in this country. He’s one step above the Nigerian lads sending e-mails and letters.
+1
That’s the view I was trying to express.
Interesting piece on the Sean Moncrieff show yesterday with Stephen Dufner, the guy who wrote freakonomics, basically saying that the Nigerian emails are deliberately utterly stupid and ridiculous so that only the utterly, utterly gullible would respond.
Anyone here know anything about taxation on monetary gifts ?
I think you can give 3000 tax free to a sibling. More to a child
What if one wanted to give a 15k gift to a sibling to assist with property purchase ?
Give it as a loan for now
I’m pretty site their mortgage is dependant on it being a gift.
The first 30k is tax free so you won’t break any thresholds yet. Still have time to decide it’s not a gift later once the mortgage is drawn down etc.
Ok. Is that 30k cumulative from various people. Say 2 more siblings were to give 15k each . Total amount 45k is that over the tax threshold ?
Yep. That would be. The tax is payable by the receiver so they’re assessed on their total, not the various individual amounts. You also get 3k per year exempt for each person so you if they got 45k, they would be only taxable on the (45 - 3*3) 36k and the actual exemption threshold is 33.5k I think so wouldn’t be much exposure there. You’d be likely to find a way to get it to zero, particularly if the payments could span 2 years, as you’d get 3k exemption for each year I believe.
Great thanks.
Fuck sake has this “sibling” a pot to piss in at all. How is the sibling going to pay the mortgage?
Anyone know the best way to transfer money internationally. The bank to bank rates are poor enough.
Currency fair seem to have good rates and a relatively simple setup process
