Surprising that an organisation who pride themselves on advising the best business practices would find themselves having to make job cuts.
Big 5 me bollox
I see Mazars have been deleted too.
I actually meant Top 5. My mistake.
Some 23 year old never done anything but be an accountant writing reports telling some lad who setup his own company what to do next, and charging them a fortune for the previlage. And what’s worse is they listen to them
No they don’t. They take your mans ideas and give them back to him on a powerpoint.
- Cut costs by firing people
- Profit
The best way to save money is non replacenent of leavers / hiring freeze.
Some cash out for the partners I’d say
And some fuck you to the ones coming through and the ones that left it to them
Grant Thornton Ireland had record annual revenue in excess of €300 million in its most recent financial year.
Together the US based advisory firm, Grant Thornton Advisors, and Grant Thornton LLP, the accounting business, had record annual revenue of $2.4 billion.
GT US only 8 times bigger than the Paddy Arm in a country 50 times bigger… Sounds like the Paddies should be runnung the show
I have two pals in there - one a senior partner and one hoping to be made shortly. I’d say the second lad is sick
Absolutely. Pulling the ladder up completely
Hardly.
There’s no sympathy in this game for anybody
You’d need to have been a partner a few years to get anything life changing out of it apparently. But the senior lad was one of the architects and will be getting a monster payout. Not often these deals come around for the likes of them so probably decided to strike while iron was hot
Will merged part drop the partnership structure?
Are they not just swapping part of their equity in the Irish business for a bit of equity in the combined business for now? With the actual payout coming when they float the combined businesses?
Know someone in there who was this close to being bumped up to partner but I assume the rug was pulled. Hard to take I’m sure.
There’s no sympathy in this game for anybody
That’s the way it is in professional services partnerships. The partners of the day look after themselves. Those that went before sucked at the teat long enough and those to come can suck an egg if they don’t like it. They needn’t take the partnership.
