FAO Chartered Accountants

EAZY there fagan your post was most helpful so pleaae untwist you knickers

Arent you an accountant too ???

Not one of the accountants could answer this brain teaser ffs. Tinnion bluffing around asking pointless questions was an unsavory insight into the workings of the profession.

I bet the clock was running too.

Chalk it down Runt

I’ve considered all of the facts and circumstances presented and I concur with Fagan’s assessment, there’s nothing particularly sinister about the charge. Most likely the company has a mortgage and the bank has a charge (or first call in layman’s terms) over certain assets of the company.

To be honest, you’re not likely to get too much information from the companies office search on the current state of the company. I’d guess the latest set of accounts available is the 2010 accounts, a lot may have changed between now and then. If the company has a December year-end the 2011 accounts will need to be filed by September 30, 2012.

Although, given you have previously indicated that the auditors have resigned I would not expect a set of accounts to be forthcoming by this deadline.

The Institute now has an iPad friendly version of Accountancy Ireland. Available here:

It’s fucking neat to have a chartered accountant qualification.

I’m a little disappointed to see it freely available to non-members but I presume and hope that will change. I have no real problem with non-accountants catching a glimpse of our lifestyle but it would be galling to find ACCA (spit) and CIMA “accountants” looking at our publication.

Are you sure it’s available to all? I assumed I was seeing it as I was logged on.

One would hope this is just a trial to allow non-members to see how advanced we are but I’d be very worried if our governing body was giving away such material for free. This could be the biggest issue to face the profession in the last 25 years. I certainly can’t think of a bigger one.

That seems to be the way of it. I don’t mind us showcasing the brand a small bit but chartered accountancy is an established profession and doesn’t need to rely on gimmicks to attract the best of the best.

the difference between accountants and other people who work in offices is the latter know the work they do makes no difference in the great scheme of things…the poor accountants think (or atleast used to before the banking crisis showed them up as glorified pen pushers) that they actually make a difference… words like ‘integrity’ are used in every accountancy manual which couldn’t be further from the truth with these money hungry cunts… :guns:

They let me in Ffs sake.

Same applies to this thread really. I shudder to think that there may be lesser people with mere ACCA or CIMA "qualifications’ browsing it. We should only grant thread viewing privileges to posters who prove their ACA credentials.

Actually, are we still called the ACA?

ACCA is better than ACA. It has one more letter for starters.

We were never the ACA. You are an ACA. We were the ICAI. We’re now just CAI.

This thread should be locked to non members and unpaid members.

Appendage,
ACA.

Appendage has the details right here again. I’m wasn’t a fan of the re-branding from the[b] Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland /b to Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) but if there’s one thing this noble profession has taught me is that you can’t fight change, you must embrace it, for with change comes incremental billing opportunities.

I’m sitting the FAE’s next week.I have put in a huge effort over last 2 months and indeed last 3 years so hopefully I will pass.I cannot even imagine what I will feel like, walking out of the RDS next thursday.Hopefully life will be a bit easier. There will be a lot of :pint:

Best of luck Whiplash. The new FAE is sorting the wheat from the chaff. Although if you’ve gotten through CAP 2 you’re well on the way.

Best of luck Whiplash.
