ahoy @Juhniallio

I have some vague memory that you may have lived in china previously? a mate is travelling there (beijing and shenzen) and wants to pick up some cheap tech, she’s an i-fan can you give any tips on picking stuff up there on the cheap. I’ve also told her to look at xiaomi stuff but they dont appear to have stores so any tips on where to pick that up would be great.

thanks in advance

Apple stuff is more expensive in China than the US so a good place to start would be not visiting China.

thanks, now xiaomi ?

Hey juhniallio a friend of mine is Looking to bypass the planning process and get a large unseemly extension that is out of keeping with the existing streetscape. He lives in a corner house and there may be scope to reconstitute what planning authorities judge to be the gable end of his dwelling and in so doing circumvent the planning laws. He is not currently connected to a centre right coalition but has no qualms about incentivising a local councillor to get the paperwork through. I thought given your family’s previous you might be able to lend some advice.

Julio is right, art. Apple is a status symbol luxury item there and they’ve enough people who’d pay anything for it so it’s really pricey. They have loads of knock off markets but the tech is dodgy so she wont be into that. Most expats in China would buy that shit in Hong Kong, which is right beside Shenzen. Shenzen is the special trade zone so I imagine your mate has a much better chance of picking up tech stuff there.

@croppy, your mate sounds like a decent fella who knows how the world works. I think I can hook him up with a man who could help. I have this dodgy fucker mate who lives in faux Fingal. Dodgy house investments and an excellent past dabbling in fraud type activities. He even rang me when the house was burgled encouraging me/advising me on how to cook the books on a claim. Top guy, if slightly unbelievable. (he claimed to have banged Brian Kerr’s daughter in Kerr’s shed one night). I’ll pm you his details.
