That’s fierce blaguarding in fairness
Tis especially on the day that’s in it 10/10/20.
If the video from the Cattle factory in roscrea doing the rounds On what’s app is real I really hope the lad is ok
the bacon factory?
The power of that kick was incredible, only a year old by the look of him.
I didn’t think cattle would be so nimble. I hope he is ok anyway.

That’s fair praise from Tommy. Was English underestimated? He seemed to go about his business with little fuss.
“Nicky English was the person who taught me how to be an inter-county player, really. He taught me how to train like an inter-county player, he taught me how to think like an inter-county player. He taught me what being a Tipperary player actually involved. I had no comprehension of that even up to ‘99 when English took over as manager. Only then did I get a proper insight into what an inter-county player was required to have vis-a-vis the physical and mental in particular. I was way off the mark until he came around the place. Plus all the other stuff you picked up from just being around him. The way he handled himself in certain situations and the way he handled a big group of players. It was incredible. I still have some of those lessons with me and am fortunate to be able to use them all the time because even though the game has changed, some aspects haven’t changed and will never change. And I think they’re the things that I’m really grateful for.”

Tommy Dunne is an intense individual.
English was a brilliant manager.
He was a brilliant player and manager, one of the best of my lifetime, nice fella too.
When my missus moved to Linerick in 01 she lived in a house share with a Tipp hurler, Nicky would call the house phone (during the winter)and stay on for hours, called to the house a few times as well, must have been working on the mental side of things, a player with massive potential who never really hit the heights he should have, Eoin Kelly was a regular visitor to the gaff back in those days also, the missus never knew who he was until I was there one evening when he called over, just a pal of the other chap
I spent an hour or so with Nicky before years ago and had a few more dealings with him. A sound fella
Given that I was very young and therefore could be wrong, but I would have thought he won an AI with a rather unfancied Tipp team too. Wasn’t exactly superstar laden
Unbeaten all that season league and championship. Had been building each year since he took over. Narrowly beaten by Clare in 99 before beating them following year. Narrowly went out to Galway in 2000. 2001 was first full year of Eoin Kelly (came on as late sub v Galway in 2000; listed at 16 so was sub goalie as well). He also did things like move big John Carroll into centre forward and big Declan Ryan into full forward that year. Some great hurlers on the 01 team. Cummins in goals, Philip Maher full back, Corcoran and Paul Kelly at wing back, Tommy Dunne HOTY at midfield and the arrival of a young Lar.
Played a great semi v Kilkenny in 2002 (and they would have taken Clare in the final that year, I’ve no doubt) but were well beaten by same opposition at the same stage in 03
hurlix alert
They were big boys. Not as big as big Paul Shelly
Shelly was butty
Waterford beat them out the gate in 2002. The same gate Babs said the Waterford fans would be heading towards with 10 minutes to go.
Brian Flannery went well that day.
