Favourite Dublin Pub that won't exist again

Was it just Toners and 51 he owned or was there more?

The Wellington I think.

The uileann pipes are a wonderful plaintiff instrument.

An instrument I’d love to learn, but it would be a life’s work and I’m a couple of decades behind where I should be already.

Ar dheis Dé etc. Sad that he passed on his final journey and a place ordinarily so full of life has its doors shut.

There was a pub in Galway that had a pipers club every Wednesday before the shutdown, twas a beautiful thing so it was

The 51, Toners, The Waterloo and The Lansdowne Hotel afaik. Also own or owned Rocwell Water which sponsored Tyrone back in the day. His nephew is the Tyrone player Frank Burns.

That’s one for the things I learned today thread. Never knew one person owned them pubs.
They’d all seem to be very differently run pubs to me, obviously a horses for courses man

Pipers Corner pub on Marlborough St, Dublin is your spot. The co-owner Sean is an accomplished player and teacher. Plenty of the Pipers Club in Dublin play there too.

He was in business with his brothers so not sure how they shared the responsibility/workload. Though I think one of them was still Tyrone based and in charge at Rocwell while you’d often see Frank & Mick in the 51. The 4 brothers ran the NYC marathon in their 60s a few years ago for charity to mark the 35th anniversary of first running it together. Frank seemed to be a great charity fundraiser and a very nice man.
