Favourite Dublin Pub that won't exist again

They took the Big Tree. Quinn’s also is a step too far.

I’d have preferred if they saved the big tree. Quinns is a kip

But not koyleys :hushed:

NIMBYs out in force

Surely there’s a market for a proper pub in Donnybrook?

I can’t believe nobody tried to make a go of it when the family pulled out.

There has been an eye watering smell of piss in Quinn’s for 30 odd years and not just on match day.

There is a market for a decent gastro type pub in Drumcondra. McGraths is a relic and Fagan’s is owned and run by cunts.

Thing Mote was a grand spot, it was a meeting point for me and a couple of mates that lived in Dublin around the Millenium I’d say, How long is that gone now?

assuming and bit assumption , we get back to normal, with Quinns closed, the big tree gone, there is a few less pre , post match watering holes!

Kennedys is mine. not a fan of the band music there apres match though, it was better the old way. Tynans from Offaly own it now connected to the celt owner on talbot street. tThey have worked hard on it in fairness, food, music etc

Kennedys is grand

my main watering hole on match day anyways

longing for the day me , you and shannonsider have a pint or two outside like we did after the all ireland semi a few years back

Is the whole drinking on match day around Croke Park in decline ( pre Covid even) ??

Actual crowds seem to be falling . Less big days . Peoples social habits changing . Also it you want a pint of mediocre Overpriced beer in discomfort it can be got inside the stadium .

Thats what I did for the AISF in 2019 tipped away in and drank inside. Much less hassle

The bar in Kennedy’s is a grand spot. I agree about the music in the front part. Tynan is a colourful character but a decent sort.

If Quinn’s goes the Bernard Shaw will become the pre match venue of choice in Drumcondra. Deconstruct late-stage capitalism over an avocado toast and fair trade coffee then tip into the match.

The Hogan Stand and The Auld Triangle are where it’s at pre match around Croker.

Tis for cunts alright

Isn’t there a hotel going into the Big Tree site? I’d assume they will put a big bar/terrace in it for the match day crowd - would be an odd move not to.

Louis Fitz owns it so you can be guaranteed it will be a match day spot again.

He knows the craic.

The Hideout is a decent spot for a pint on match day with the sun shining. Not so nice on a normal day.

How many times outside of all Ireland final Sundays is Croker even close to being full when the dubs aren’t playing?

I’d say limerick/cork was 60k in 2018. That crowd is easily lost around Croker.
