David Gilmour
I know a lad who brought a Single Cut Custom Rose Vintage this week out of solidarity with the worldwide protests over the murder of George Floyd. I though that was very noble of him I must say
Was it a Black SC with a Floyd Rose? That was a mighty sound gesture.
Twould make your heart smile so it would. He can’t play for shite but still
Maybe he just bought it to burn it. Could he be a racist?
No. He likes to be ‘edgy’ every now and then because it makes him feel clever but he’s not a bad old skin underneath it all
Aw. That’s nice, dear.
Are you just picking up the geetar or have you played a bit before?
I tip away on a pair of acoustics a bit these days but I have barely touched an electric guitar in the last 8 years. Like Bruce Springsteen’s brother at Khe Sanh, a lot of my music gear is all gone.
Well wear it pal.
Guitar wankers. Always ruin a good party.
Along with some cunt who wants to sing ‘Grace’ in the living room & not a note in his head.
I have an acoustic; nothing fancy or anything but can play a bit. Got lessons a few years ago and they were worth it. You’re at nothing trying to teach yourself from YouTube, unless you have the foundations right.
Wouldn’t play in public or at parties cc @tazdedub; it’s actually hard enough to play if you’re in any way as inebriated as I would be by the time the guitars come out. That trend around ten years ago of every second young one at parties singing Caledonia or There Were Roses put me off that carry on anyway.
I found most people at the house parties I went to didn’t actually want to hear me beating a guitar to death with Funeralopolis or some under doom number (surprisingly), so I generally left it off. Ended up at a sesh a couple of years back where five or six of us ended up murdering a few Irish songs until 6am, and it kind of got me back into it.
Work on your timing. Play to a metronome or play along with “tapes” and the likes. If you have no timing, you’re wasting all of our time.
Moving the discussion from Celebrity Deaths over to its rightful home. Will post some EVH later, but listening to an album at the minute that turned 40 earlier this summer. Back in Black. There isn’t a wasted note on it, nevermind a bad song. Bon Scott era AC/DC would be my preference, but this album is unquestionably their best.
A handy little piece of equipment here. It is a battery powered amp that your headphones plug into; means that you are not restricted to playing in whatever room your regular amp is in.
Thinly veiled ‘Check out my Stratocaster guys’ post here
