I think Kerr’s research is overrated. He has his stat sheet in front of him for listing off caps but he’s realising he sounds authoritative and now he’s trying to make it more convincing sounding. He spoke about some chap coming on for the weekend “for his seventy third cap I think it is” as though it was just something he knew and it rings very false.
Having said that he’s an awful lot better than Ronnie or Ray.

Also re Ronnie, he was disgraceful during the England match on Monday. He said he didn’t rate Maguire as a defender at the start, yet when Maguire gave the ball away creating a chance in the first half, he obviously missed it and blamed the general casual nature of the England play for the chance been given up.
He also completely missed the Kane penalty appeal in the first half, as did the entire RTE panel and production team it appeared, despite the replay being shown a few times by the Russian producers. It was only referenced by the panel when Kane himself said it in the post match interview!
Shambolic stuff.

I don’t know. They sometimes have a mini-clear out after the group stages and add one or two for the knock out part. I remember being very relieved when they said their goodbyes to Ossie Ardiles mid tournament that time.
He has turned into a right crank as well… every time a player doesnt score from an attempt or execute some play properly he’s whinging… and not just easy efforts… ‘it was a really poor effort, Darragh. ok he’s surrounded by 4 defenders but he needs to play the ball off them like a pin ball machine and have it beat the keeper to the right. It’s just basic stuff at this level and he should really be doing better.’
I’m going to tweet a complaint about the incessant complaining of RTÉ co-commentators.

Here, Ray. I know they didn’t actually score from the cross but perhaps the crosser thought the near post cross was a better option when he looked into the box and that’s why he crossed the ball to the near post. You hyper critical little gimp.

Na mate, I’d catch whatever SBS have to offer. It’s a disgrace that the tournament isn’t free to air. From what i gather SBS traded most of the games to Optus for EPL rights? Why was there no legislation to stop this? Surely the World cup is on the endangered species list.

Ronaldo’s peak in terms of big games has been the last two seasons strangely enough for a 33 year old
