FIFA 2018 World Cup Thread

Only flicking on the Spain match intermittently but Isco appears to be running the show

I can’t get over Spain still being favs for the World Cup. They’ve actually shortened into around 4/1 now from the 6/1 they were when they sacked the manager. They haven’t inspired whatsoever. An odd one. And will have Uruguay next unless they top the group.

That’s more a bad reflection on him after he let in Ronaldo’s back pass last Friday

Ooofffttt. Beautiful goal by Quaresma. I think a keeper with better footwork would have gotten in position to claw it away though.

Agreed.

It was still great technique to place it where he did…A player with a lot of hype 10 year(s) ago. Never really reached the heights.

I’m off to play a game of 6 aside… Please have the second round and potential QF permutations worked out after today’s results.

Try 15 years ago. Same vintage as the likes of Arjen Robben. Got a big money move to Barca in 2003.

He has always scored outragiously good goals. Just a free spirit.

Where is Nani? Assume he is injured

I’m going to the gym in a while and they don’t have TVs. I’ve let my routine slip over the last week and that needs to be corrected, World Cup or not.

Just seeing the highlight of Egypt v Saudi here. That first penalty was a bit harsh. Little the defender could do about it

Penaldo misses

Ronnie :joy:

CR 7 is no Harry Kane ,

Iran are blowing up.

Amrabat with an outrageous hit off the inside of the post. Some hit, would have been some goal.

Morocco causing Spain serious bother here.

Busquets aside Spain are rudderless and very flat. Too many nice footballers, Silva, Iniesta, Isco, Thiago all very similar nice footballers. Lacking a bit of directness

Who’d have expected Iran to give Morocco, Spain and Portugal so much bother in this group.

They’re a good side, would beat the Oirish easily.

Can’t see either Portugal or Spain going much farther than the quarters. Would fancy Uruguay to turn whichever one of these they get

More than holding their own here alright. Causing plenty of problems for Portugal.

Spain have one taken off the line. Lovely cross and a fine cushioned header by Isco and great covering

I was going to say the FAI should be looking at someone like Queiroz when I googled his salary to find he’s on €2m a year!!!
